Point System- take the discussion back on top

First off, thank you all for voicing your opinion freely but in a respectful manner. I appreciate both sides of the opinion and if we can all live with the notion of "we can agree to disagree"... Many longtime bulldoggers, breeders, show exhibitors and judges raised a good topic about show winners, champion as the validation or breedability and what a stud dog or brood bitch can produce.

To obtain championship in your country

can people please tell me how many points you need and how you get them to achieve championship status in America and the UK.

Here in NZ we don't have a point system, you have to get 8 challenge certificates. At each championship show 1 dog and 1 bitch is awarded a challenge certificate each.

An Interesting Article

Quite honestly, I haven't heard anything about Bill in a few years and I do miss discussing the breed with him. I enjoyed reading this particular article of his at this time.

Congratulations to all the winners lately and I hope everyone is well!

BREED POPULARITY

A good indication of a breed’s popularity is the number of purebreds it has registered each year by the AKC

can anyone tell me a bit about FCI

I have not delt at all with this registry and would like some input about it. If a stud dog is an Int. Ch. through the FCI is that good or RUN!

Can someone explain to me-

how a judge can be qualified to judge Group/BIS but not be licensed to judge all breeds in it??
It's most likely my 'newbie naivety' but it seems to me, logically, that a judge can not effectively judge a, let's say, Non-Sporting Group, if that same judge is not qualified by license to judge ALL the breeds in that Group.
Am I missing something?

Paula~

What size and brand leash/lead does everyone use?

Curious as to a particular or popular brand that would show off a bulldog versus a ****-zu!
I notice there are different size gauges or diameters and lengths. For the pros out there what do you use?
Cheers!

Point system...

I am curious if there is a minimum score on the standard that would help breeders decide whether or not to show or breed a particular bulldog.

For example:
Given the bulldog is somewhat balanced with no glaring faults that stand out and the breeder has a good grasp of the standard.

The breeder adds up the points and gives the dog a score of 75 points out of a possible 100 points.

Is this good? Is this poor?

What would the minimum amount of points we should see in a breeding specimen?

The Stud Dog

I do alot of education I found this on the stud dog written by Bruce Hollenbeck a old time bulldogger.
