Hey to everyone.

This is Carol and Griffin.

We've been absent for awhile. It was so fun to see so many of you still around!

Hi Amy, Hi Dave.

Wondering if anyone has had experience with a torn ccl? Griffin is obsessed with his plastic egg, and attacks it with all his might. He loves that egg to the point of tearing his ccl. I'm not hearing good things about the surgery. I'm wondering about a brace. He's hard for this old gal to handle, I'd need one that's easy to put on.

We're hoping to find a solution to help his pain. He's only four.

Appreciate any advice you can give.

Sure miss the former days! What fun we all had!

Hi there1

Chester had two town acl's at different times.  The first one he could put some weight on it so we put him on anti inflammatories and complete rest and it healed up.  Later on he completely tore the other one, couldn't walk on it at all.  We found an orthpedic vet (appropriately named Dr Bone) and he did the repair.  The surgery was easy, the after care was long - 8 weeks of complete rest.  We put up two exercise pens, one in the family room and one in the bed room.  He could only go outside on a leash to take care of business and then back into the pen.  I spent a lot of time sitting in there with him.  He healed nicely and never had a problem after he was healed.  Lots of people from here are on FB on Gary's bulldog lovers porch.

Thanks fo much for this info.

Thanks fo much for this info. He is putting weight on it. Some days he limps more than others. I haven't been able to inforce complete rest. I'm thinking of seeing about a leg brace.

I'ts so good to see you! I'll check out the porch from time to time.

Huys to you and Chester!

Hi Carol

So nice to hear from you after so long.  Addison had the ACL surgery when she was around 3 or 4 years old.  She is 10 now.  I can echo just what Kathy has said.  The surgery went well, but the recovery was a bit of a challenge.  We had a special area set up for her in the house where she could see us and we could keep her contained.  Taking her out, well, Addie being Addie, did not like going potty on a leash. She learned very quickly that that's what she had to do. Her ACL was torn when she jumped off a landscaping block and slipped.  When we took her to the vet she was limping pretty badly. I am happy we did the surgery and have no regrets.  She is doing well now.  Take care

Thanks Mary,I've read that

Thanks Mary,

I've read that the chances are big of the other leg tearing because of stress put on it while the injured leg is healing. We'll just do what we have to. I can't lift him at all, so it's good to know that Addison got the message quickly that the rules had changed.

Love to you two!

Hi Carol!! Oh gosh lady, I’ve missed you!

Such a cutie boy that youngster is!! Hope you are well!!

I have very little experience with a town ccl. Had a Doberman girl that blew hers and had surgery, did great. But that was a Dobe! I don't know how it would be for a bully:-(.

Good to see you! Dave isn't here any longer, but you can find a bunch of us on FB if you are on.
