I started in Bulldogs in 1975 with my first Bulldog CH Lord Punchinello, 2 years later I got Lady Judith (Punch and Judy) I then started showing Punch and started with breeding and it all just escalated from there. I joined BDW on the first page maybe the first day it was opened. I used to post a lot but now with so many good people on the board with answers to problems for novices I just read and if I agree with what has been said I do not post. I used to have 15 Bulldogs at one time but now I am down to 3 adults and Arlo. I have had 8 CH over the years and a lot of fun and friends that I would not have met if not for the Bulldogs. I belong to the Bulldog Club of Philadelphia, Bulldog Club of NJ and BCA. Love to go to Nationals with my best friend Norma Hugo (Elizabeths mom). Oh yeah I am 78 years young.

I've been enjoying all of the "About Me Stories"!
I'm a retired elementary school teacher having spent 25 yrs in the classroom mainly with third graders. I've been married to the same wonderful guy for 44 yrs & we have 3 great adult kids & nine terrific grandkids.
We got our first Bullie back in the 70s. Her name was Lucy & she grew up with our kids & was just a really special member of our family. After she passed at age 10 from cancer, we got a gorgeous male Bullie & named him Buster. Unfortunately he passed at age five from something similar to meningitis. We were heartbroken & decided "No More Bulldogs".
Later I got a little black Scottie & my husband got a German Shepherd pup. We loved & enjoyed them, time passed, & they crossed the bridge too. Again we were heartbroken & decided "No More Dogs". We were going to retire & travel.
However, our home was so empty that soon I found myself scanning ads & the internet looking at pics of Bullie pups. I located a Bulldog breeder & my husband agreed to go with me JUST TO LOOK at a litter of pups. LOL And that's how Dolly became ours!

years ago when I worked at a kennel, a bulldog came in and I made a similar claim as you, saying that it was the ugliest dog I had ever seen! Haha...amazing how we can flip flop with our opinions, because now I think they're the cutest breed EVER!
Love the picture of all your bullies dressed up...too cute!
Submitted by Lonna with Harl... on February 1, 2010 - 4:08pm.
My name is Lonna and I am 51 years old. I live in southern Michigan and have lived in this area my entire life. One stop light. Small town USA. I have been married for 32 years and my husband's name is Jerry. We have two grown sons.
We got our first Bulldog Rocky in 1999. Always wanted one but didn't really know much about them except that they were really cool looking. My husband went to pick Rocky up and from that day forward we became a bulldog family. Rocky was amazing. Beautiful, Big, Slow, clumsy, happy, and mellow as can be. He made us laugh every day. He was a dog of many health issues but that didn't matter to us at all. We learned a lot about bulldogs through our years with Rocky. We lost him a year ago and it was one of the saddest days in our family.
Both of our sons knew that someday they would have there own bulldogs. Five years ago our youngest son got his first bulldog Tonka, and then last year added Lola. Our oldest son is in the process of renovating his home but when he is able he plans on also adding a bulldog to his home.
As Rocky was aging and we knew his time was getting near we were absolutely sure we would not have another dog. Shortly after our thoughts changes. It was way to quiet. We missed having someone to greet us at the door. Then our son got his puppy Lola and he would bring her over to visit. This started the healing process for us. She was so much fun to have around. So we started thinking that maybe in a year or two we might think of getting another. A year or two quickly turned into months and then weeks. We didn't want to "replace" Rocky. We wanted a bulldog that looked and acted different to avoid comparisons.
We found Harley.
Talked with his breeder for a few weeks. As soon as we saw pictures of him we knew he would be ours. We wanted different and boy did we get it. Harley's personality is nothing like Rockys. He is hell on four legs. Full of energy, extremely agile and you gotta watch him every minute or he's getting into some kind of trouble. But, he also makes us laugh every day. He helped heal our hearts and he is the center of our home. Harley just turned one and he keeps us on our toes! We had lurked on BDW a bit before we got Harley. Since his arrival I check it most everyday. Post once in while and find it full of fabulous info and lot's of really fun pics!

I have learned never to say never..... In Jr. High my mom had a friend that raised bulldogs, I remember going into a little town restaurant/pub and they had their bulldog pup sitting in their truck...and my mom said..."isn't it cute?" I told her it was the UGLIEST DOG I HAD EVER SEEN..And I WOULD NEVER HAVE ONE..well..I think my mom is laughing from heaven......REAL HARD right about now.
Me and my boyfriend Sean bought our first bulldog Akira 12 1/2 years ago, after I had gone to a haflinger horse sale with his parents and I saw the cutest little bulldog puppy. (God...had my taste changed??) So we started looking, and couldn't believe how much they were. We went to a vet that had raised them, and at first he brought out a littermate brother .....he was crazy and hyper. Then he brought out "Akira"...every time we would pet her, she would scoot closer to where she was sitting on our feet. I knew then she was teh one. On the way home SEan reminded me we were "just Looking" I cried and pouted teh whole way home, and even told him I hated him....lol. Two weeks later he told me he was going to Indiana to see about a dog.....with a grin...and with more questioning and more grins, I found out we were getting our girl!!! It hasn't been the same since. She lived to be 11 1/2, and died after a mastectomy and spay, and the vet leaving her lay all week, and me finally yanking her out of that clinic and taking her to MEdVet. I still miss her everyday. Akira had one litter, we ended up keeping 6 of the 7 kids....at least I made that decision. And I still have 3 of them...tehy will be 9 in April.
I fell into showing after having the other "kids". I joined the local bulldog club and dabbled in showing. I have really been showing "regularly" the last 4 years, and have 3 champions with 2 more well on their way. We don't have any 2 leggers, and really don't want any...my life revolves around the dogs. I have done training for conformation for others, and helped show a couple other dogs to their CH title. I have also been very active in 2 local bulldog clubs, and do classes in agility with my girl Calamity Jane.
Sean and I are both RN's, and have been together close to 20 years. He is a good patient man But probably wonders....what did he start?? lol.
Some of the crew.....
An Indian outfit I made for Goliath (he will be 9)also know as Lil Man...
Another set of costumes I made, and won a huge Costume Contest(Bark in the Park)

I also have another dog, a 10 year old black lab named Sadie, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, a parrot, and a guinea pig (as well as another guinea pig we seem to be permanently babysitting). Oh yeah, and 2 kids, both boys ages 8 and 13 years old. And a dh, lovingly referred to as the 'old grouch'.
