Is owning a bulldog, some kind of exclusive club or something?, or is it just this board? I own a bulldog, and have friends who do also. I do not consider us to be superior to other pet owners, although we may have paid a bit more for our pets. I can't help but notice in some responses on this board, especially when questions or requests for advice are posted, no one is quick to answer a first time or new poster. Then, heaven forbid someone should finally give an answer, an "expert" disagrees with making a "get out of my way the expert is in the house" response. Maybe there is a dose of "alpha dog" syndrome so to speak here. I don't know what the deal is, but I have been reading the posts on this forum for quite sometime, and won't post because of it.

Before you give the speech about, "Why do you come here then" etc... I do enjoy the pictures, and the website is absolutely fantastic. As for the take the "experts opinion" only or else vibe, I take the I agree to disagree arguement. There is a saying about opinions...opinions are like @$$ _ OL&$, everyone has one. And aren't we all entitled to our own (opinion )? I just can't help but wonder, how many countless people come here, and feel the same. And how much fun could this forum be if everyone could feel equal, and not at the bottom of the pecking order? Makes you wonder don't it?

I'll step down from my soapbox now. I apologize if my tone is too strident. I do love bullies, and you all have a beautiful bunch of those.

Re: Re: I think you are totally wrong.

I still don't know where you are coming from. If "sometimes one can relate better with one than another", then email whomever's opinion you can relate to best directly with your question. Otherwise, if you post it, then you'll have to accept taking any replies, and ignore the ones you don't relate to.

Again, I have seen time and again totally new people post and I think are welcomed very nicely by all, and their questions answered nicely.

Re: I think you are totally wrong.

Actually, if you'll notice, I mentioned I hadn't posted at all.

I am all for everyone giving an opinion. That is my point, what is bothersome, is when "the experts" rush in with a post, giving the feeling of superiority, as if all other opinions should be dismissed. I realize that some here have more experience than others, but sometimes one can relate better to someone than another. So all opinions should be welcomed and appreciated.

I have no doubt that you all for the most part are a good group of people. It's evident in your recent rescue effort of Cody, and your pulling for each other in hard times. I'm just all for equal opportunity posting.

I think you are totally wrong.

I have seen posts many, many times from obvious first timers, and feel they are greated with friendship and help.

Sometimes perhaps one doesn't really want to hear the advice they ask for. Is that your issue? If I were to answer your question with some down to earth, firm answer, is that me being "a know it all"? So then, who do you want to answer a question?

I am sorry you feel this way. Perhaps once in a while anyone can get a little sharp with a reply. We are all human. But also, many times a poster has their own attitude when they post. But generally, this is one of the greatest bunch of people, always willing to help, to listen, to laugh with each other. You are welcome to join in.

First of all ....

your name, even just a first name, would be appreciated.

I own a very expensive "Pet". She was bought as a show prospect and did well for a good number of consecutive shows ... then she got sick. When the breeders and "show" circles abandoned us, this is where we found our belonging.

Whatever it is you have asked before, please try asking again. This is a very welcoming, and understanding group.

Re: Rowdy?

Chill out Anthony, I figured you of all people would have laughed at that.

PS if you re read the post below it was somewhat rude, meaning the part about how many prayers does it take for a cold,10,20?. In any case it was surely a case to start a fire with which is not something called for without any reason at that.

Re: Re: ?

I actually think that you, webmaster are doing a fantastic job. This website is top notch, and you do a remarkable job of staying neutral from what I have seen. Thus, the reason I continue to "lurk". The info is great, and the pictures are truly awesome.

Rowdy?

I think just the look of my name says "rowdy". I posted an "opinion" and earlier a "question". The latter was suddenly locked like it had anthrax and now I'm called "rowdy"...because I posted my opinion. You see why "some" people think the way they do?

Actually!!!

Anthony,
Your being rowdy today! It is everyones house, no one has been told to get lost unless they have caused problem after problem which brings down the whole boards attitude and we dont want any part of that here. I do however have to keep the rules up! and if i feel things getting out of hand i remove the post, lock it or in the worst case will block a person.

I ACTUALLY ENCOURAGE FAST REPLIES TO POSTS. IT IS WHAT PEOPLE WANT. A FAST REPLY. IF ANY OTHER PERSON WANTS TO REPLY PLEASE DO, ALL REPLIES CAN BE READ BY EVERYONE AND DECIDED WHAT THEY WANT TO GO WITH.
If you dont reply pretty quick the message will be on page 3 or 4 by end of day and will never get answered!

Re: ?

Well, I for one feel the bulldog is the best of all breeds and the only breed for me! I think there the best. Just like our kids we think there the best! That IS NOT TO SAY I would not do anything possible to save the life of any other breed, I have. That is not to say I would tell someone who has a poodle to get lost, its just my preferance is Buldogs and from the site built here I think you can see why. I love all animals, and many here love them all as well and also have many other breeds of dogs, just look around teh board, nearly everyone here also has another breed, I even have cats. It is what you like and what you want that you should have.

Medical questions really belong on the medical board and get answered over there, but at the same time one or two replies is normal and they move on.This is a general board which gets 5 x more hits than the medical board and that is why we made it to offer refief of those questions on this board and get them answered.

Many of the experts here on this board are just that , experts, and there advise is usually well appreciated, it is by me. There is a lot of questions posted which the average pet owner may not have an answer for, so we rely on the long time owners/breeders and show people to help out with those answers and they do a great job which I for one appreciate very much!
Experience and long time ownership is valuable to the new people and many others.

If your driving a rig for a week now and you have someone who has driven one for 18 years and were going down a step wet mountian i want to be asking the 18 year long driver what to do next and ride with him/her. But i will treat nice and talk with the new driver just as much!

Anyone is free to jump in a subject, add there 2 cents and be heard, if someone dont agree with them then that is just the way it is. At least they spoke there mind, stated there opinion and we moved on. I have seen very few heated debates over a issue on health or something like that. I know of some breeders right here who dont agree on some subjects and medical things, but they disagree and move on. When you get crazy posts that spread fuel everywhere taht is a new subject and different than asking or answering questions related to the bulldog.

Most heated debates come from posts that really should not even be posted here. We're all human, we can agree or not and move on. A prime example. I have in teh past disagreed with people and were still friends!! part of being human! most every post gets an answer!

Well...

...one thing I can tell you is you will get no respect when you don't use your name...grow a pair and at least come out of the shadows.

...it's a clique. You'll like it, join it or just stay quiet. It's not my house or it's not your house...it's theirs. Enjoy the pictures...

Just the way it is... like it or leave it.

its plain ol obvious

that you try to start stuff and get attention with posts like the prayers thing...

Hey Wendy

Did Henry pee in your cheerios this morning?? LOL!! You know I am just jokin' with you -- I love you. You go girl!!

Kim & Daisy

hee hee...

Nope! I actually was a Bulldog, much to my surprise. I just get very easily irritated by people who purposely are a$$h*les for the sole purpose of sitting back and laughing at the trouble they cause. I dont understand it. lol

I actually am a very shy person, believe it or not. There are just two people I see here off and on that rub me the wrong way and he is number 1!! Im sure he gets a kick out of that too. Oh well.

By the way, you can let everyone else know that when the TRIP TO GAIL'S is officially on, I will be sleeping in a tent with the He-Man gazing at the stars! (-through my helmet and cloud of OFF! lol Im not a nature girl, but sure would love to see that scenery!) Beautiful pics you take!

Wendy .... were you a Doberman on that quiz too?

Or a rough-n-tough Pomeranian?

LOL! Go girl!

My Opinion...Lets not lose sight of...

the fact this is a BULLDOG FORUM!

There are people here who are just the average pet-owner and are learning as they go. Thats where I fall.

Ther are also people here who have been breeding and caring for this breed for years and years years. If a question is asked, you will get replies from people who have been around the block with EVERY problem and know what to do! You will get prayers and well-wishes from people who cant help really but just want you to know they will be thinking of you and your pet, and wish you the best.

What the hell else do you want when you ask a question???? Some people just know more than others. It isnt written in stone and you dont have to follow their advice or agree with their opinions. BUT YOU ASKED SO THEY ANSWER. EVERYONE HAS AN OPINION. If you dont want it from EVERYONE, dont ask for it in a public forum. Geez!

And as for SOME PEOPLE...I wont name any names, Anthony, but some people are whats called a BOARD TROLL. They hop from forum to forum starting trouble and stirring up problems- just because they are board or maybe thats how they get off. Personally I believe you should be blocked. You have proven over and over that you have nothing to add here but trouble. You like doing it and we dont want you here. Good thing its not my website, I guess.

Thoughts on this

1. I, for one, see myself as a novice bulldogger compared to some of the true experienced bulldoggers who post here. So I don't answer things that I might know a little about, but am not sure about, unless they are obviously not on the boards that day or something. I try to wait for someone who really knows for sure. Unless, I feel it is serious and needs a response right away, like, "Go to vet, now" There are also fairly new bulldoggers who have been through a lot with their bullies who as a result, know a lot, too.

2. I think it is variable when any of us is able to check the boards, so the response rate and time is variable, too.

3. Some days it goes so fast, that I can't read them all much less respond.

4. I tend to respond to the top 5 or less urgent posts, based on who's sick and needs support. I really am bad about responding to the cute picture posts, but love them and look at them all. The sick, rescue and rehab posts pull me in to respond, though, quicker, I must admit.

5. I am an introvert, and less outgoing that many on the board.

6. I am a working mom, and my kids and hubby would be not happy for me to spend more time on the board.

7. So, my point is, we are human, and we only have so much time to spend on the board, expert or novice.

8. I don't intentionally not respond to someone new, that is not a factor. All of the above factor in more.

9. This board is a wonderful resource. Bullies are wonderful, too. Many folks on here have other breeds, other species in their homes and love them also. People post cats and lizards on here, too, which is fine with me.

10. Enjoy the board for what it is as it is a melange of bully lovers with all of their personalities and idiosycrasies. The amazing thing is that most everyone here seem to be just wonderful neat people just like the bullies are wonderful. Makes you think the bullies pick their people to have them.

Re: Re: Re: ?

Thank You for that compliment. I appreciate it very much. Really I do. If when it's all over someday and they ask for one single thing everyone can say about me it would be my hopes that it would be "He was very fair with everyone"...

It is a hard job to do as well, you see things you don't agree with, things you feel are wrong and things you feel may not be right or ethical, but you allow the posts and move on unless they get to be a problem. If I get hit hard with something, as webmaster i have to agree, disagree or whatever and move on, I dont remove teh post to shut someone up because they had the right to post what they did.

I just hope I can see there view and correct what ever bothers them and move on. :)Thanks for your post! and jump on in the water is nice, please post your name in teh future ( or make up a name...lol) so we can addres you by a name and join in on the posts and replies with us. Your very welcome here. I just try to not post to much and leave the questions and answeres to everyone else. This is you guys board. The day you guys have had enough and stop coming is the day it is lost forever and closes! So it is you guys who decide things here and choice to be here which I appreciate very much!

No harm done @ all ;o))

N/M

oops!

Okay! I'm sorry about that...please forgive me!
Jodie and Elsa

No ! i'm not the anno

Just admiring when people writes a good letter like yours and bulldogworld . I only read letters that will gain my knowledge and my horizon

I think you are wrong

When I have a problem with Daisy, this is the place I look for advice first, not my vet. Of course I call the vet but I come here to see what others more experienced than myself think and then I have some knowledge of what I am talking about. (For example, when I had Daisy spayed, I asked the vet they type of anestetic they used and he was very impressed when I told him I hoped it was Isoflourine -- sp?? -- His exact words were that he thought I pretty much knew quite a bit about the entire process because I was familar with the anestethia. I didn't but didn't let him think I did). I take the advice EVERYONE gives me to heart. Whether they show their bully, breeder their bully or are just like me and have their bully as a pet to love. The "experts" as you have called them, in my opinion, are just that -- they have countless years of raising bullies and are "experts" because they have dealt with a wide range of problems. And when I post a problem I hope one of the "experts" can give me an answer!

As for us being a cliche -- that isn't the case at all. We are a family. We all care about each other and our bullies. If one of us has a problem we are all here for support -- even if it is not bully related. I have made alot of friends on this board and I know they are there for me. I know if I ever travel to where they live they would welcome me with open arms into their homes just as I would them if they came to NC. I wouldn't trade this wonderful group of people for anything.

Maybe if you post your name and aren't so critical of us you would feel the same way. Of course we don't always agree on everything but who does?

You really are missing out by not joining in the fun. I hope you will reconsider.

Kim & Daisy

Not too get too involved but..

When the Webbie called you Rowdy ... I thought it was used like a term of endearment..No negative vibe at all.
Aloha!

Robert -

Thank you, really - I just call it like I see it...which I guess either ends up good or bad!
(But it's okay, I can take it as well as I dish it out!)

Was that you posting as "anonymous"? If so, I wanted to give a WELCOME ABOARD!!!

Jodie and Elsa

Thank you for the wonderful responsed.

I could tell that you are very well educated and i do admire your responsed and very well said ....

Now I'm confused...

It seems to me like you're telling everyone that "everyone should be allowed an opinion" - but complaining about those opinions? deep breath

As far as any crowd or clique, this isn't high school - and I, personally don't feel it's that way at all. I am really sorry that you do, (whoever you are) because I can't tell you how to feel, that's your viewpoint. Hey, I probably don't fit in "socially" with 99.9% of the people here, but we share a common interest - (um, our BULLDOGS!) so, I really don't care if I "fit in" or not. I say something often to people in my personal life, as I view myself as a very open-minded person, to "RESPECT PERSPECTIVE". I have a great deal of respect for the people on this forum.

Look, this is the internet. I don't think there is an "in-crowd", per se, just people that know each other better than the newbies. I'm pretty much a newbie. I'm a first time bulldog owner and I have been welcomed here & love the people on this board because of our common interest: OUR BULLDOGS!!! There is a wealth of advice and yes, there are experts here. I'm thankful for the experts and expert advice. I am in awe of the people here, because despite if I did have something/nothing in common with them, they are nothing short of amazing as far as being big hearted, wonderful souls.

If you never participate, then why would you be worried about what a bunch of people you don't know think about you, anyway? And, hey...this is a public forum, you're entitled to your opinion & I think if you voiced yours, you could end up with a few friends that do share common interests - Not everyone is alike, not everyone is different. Just my 2 cents.
