We lost our Winston

I've posted on and off in this forum with health related questions for the last 5 years or so; not a lot I know but everyone was always helpful. ![[linked image]](http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff148/fano3/WinstonBully.jpg)
I just wanted to tell you that on Weds, April 22, we lost our baby boy Winston (aka Bubba), who succumbed to congestive heart failure. He was 3 weeks shy of his 12th birthday. He was a special needs bully who for the past 3 years did not have the ability to walk - he lost the use of his back legs due to a degenerative spinal condition - and so I would have to carry him around. He was as kind and loving a creature that ever walked this earth. Everyone who met him fell in love with him and he them.
He never suffered, never lost his will to live, or his spirit, enthusiasm, playfulness, and desire to be with us. That all changed last week when he stopped eating and just wasn't the same old Bubba. On Wednesday he was in distress and he gave us "the look." It killed my wife and I to have to put him to sleep - we were wistful in hoping he would die of old age one night in his sleep, but not naive to think we wouldn't do what was right by him. He was everything to us and we miss him terribly. Our home is empty and lonely without him. We adopted him back in 2002 when he was 4 years old from a military family that no longer felt they could give him the time or the care he needed (when we adopted him he had severe ear infections which cleared up within 3 months of our care). Looking back we believe it was fate that brought him to us as we poured every ounce of love and care into him so he could have a great life; one he probably wouldn't have been afforded had he stayed with his original family. He brought us so much love, joy and happiness - he changed us and our lives forever. He was not just a dog but a special member of our family. Goodbye sweet Bubba, we love and miss you. Thanks for listening and for past advice/help. We agree that one day soon we will adopt/rescue another Bully once the pain of losing Winston is less painful.

good morning...
we also have lots of bulldog statues...but they are inside in a room where i have the computer..our bulldog room...50 statues...lots of bulldog pics and even stuffed bulldogs...sounds like yall are sooo much like us when it comes to your baby...we did take every bed and toy up though...

good morning...

We lost our Spotty on March 25 at the age of 8 years and 4 months.
This explains a lot of what we have been feeling.

A wonderful poem that helped when we lost our Rocky!
This was sent to us earlier this year when we lost our Rocky. It somehow helped. We too, felt the horrible sadness that you are now going thru. At first we couldn't even say his name without crying. But in time it did get better. Now when we talk about Rocky we remember all the wonderful things and how much he brightened everyday we had him. We have recently got a new bulldog, Harley. Our house was too quiet. He has brought smiles back into our home. Our family says he helped heal a broken heart and I must agree.

I know how hard it was to help him cross over but that was the most loving thing you could do for him.

Thanks Kathy. I'm sorry for your loss of Kaddy. I've been pretty much crying every day over Winston. We haven't moved or taken away any of his beds.....and he ruled the house with beds all over. I can't believe he's not here anymore when I come in; I still call out to him when I enter the house.
We had a "viewing" for him at a place here in NJ called Pet Meadow to say our final goodbyes and about 2 hours later we left with his ashes. We purchased a stone from a place online and it's on the way. We're going to put it out front in our garden next to our Bully statues. The tombstone you bought for Kaddy with her picture on it sounds pretty cool. When we were walking around the pet cemetery at Pet Meadow we saw a few of the newer tombstones with the pictures on them. I'm going to email you - would love to see a pic of Kaddy's stone.

I am so sorry to learn of Winston. I just lost my George; I planted a tree in the back yard for my beloved George, but it still does not take away the empty feeling I carry. My thought and prayers are with you at this time.

My prayers are with you and the family it is hard to let one go , It has been 2 years we lost are Charlie at 12 1/2 and I still think of him every day they are family but he may no longer be with you on earth but he will be in your heart and in your thoughts all the time
