I was reading a few articles about novelty proteins and how they can help calm food allergies. The theory is to introduce your dog to a protein it hasn't had before, such as kangaroo or beaver, and then switching to another novelty protein every 3 or 4 months. This supposedly helps dogs not have a reaction to the new protein, thus keeping the ear infections, skin issues, and other allergic reactions down.
I have come to the conclusion Fatboy will always have a reaction to chicken, turkey, beef, duck, and rabbit. I'm considering trying these novelty proteins, but I am a bit skeptical.

Pray for my Burger boy. After 7yrs of being pretty darn healthy and strong the vet diagnosed him with Protein losing Enteropothy. He's lost about 20lbs in 2mos. It breaks my heart to watch him suffer. Has anyone else dealt with this in their Bully?
I don't know how she was treated physically before she came to us, but I do know she was neglected. Those days are long gone...I love this girl so much.
If you look close, you'll see a bulldog behind the glass front door.
Morning everyone - hope you all had a wonderful Halloween! Question for all you bulldog lovers - Bosco's pigmentation seems to be changing. What once were small black freckles on his face and along his jawline are bigger and the coloring in his mouth is correspondingly changing, as well. I flagged one freckle for his vet the last time he was in for a wellness exam because one freckle in his mouth was looking different and the vet said it was no big deal. But given the broader pigmentation change, just wanted to get opionions from you all before I bring him back to his dermatologist.
ok, here's a bulldog to go with your coffee!!

Hello All,
Our Bulldog Jake is coming up on his 18 month birthday. He was fixed about five months ago and the vet did an awesome job. Jake tolerated everything well and he came home that evening. All was good. Unfortunately about four months ago, Jake developed Cherry Eye in his left eye. We brought him to the vet and he told us that it would be about a twenty to twenty five minute procedure to fix this common issue. Well, this wasn't the case.
I hope it's okay with the Admins if I post this HERE instead of the medical/ health board----but that board
tends to get visited / responded to less often. Meaty is going to have a large sebaceous cyst removed from
his back, plus a much smaller one from his leg. After lotsa research and angsting over the right thing to
do, he'll be having it removed next Monday-----we wanted the vet just to DRAIN it, but it's gotten so big
and tight, there's a risk of rupture, which of course, could cause lotsa problems!....
