Your thoughts on a curious behavior...

Roxy sleeps in the bed with Christine and I (yep, SPOILED!)

We three are the only ones ever in the bedroom, and Roxy only goes in at bed time as we keep the door closed during the day.

But for the past few days Christine's mom and sister were visiting along with her baby niece. They had never seen a memory foam bed before, so they all tried lying on it. As well, Christine had a nap twice on our bed with her baby niece, Kaitlyn.

Today they went home. We had our bedroom door open for some reason or another, and Roxy went in and peed on the bed. She almost never has accidents anymore, and if she does it is always beside the front door and it is because we were too busy or stunned to notice her standing there asking to go out.

So, do you think she was marking the bed as "hers" because she could smell the in-laws? It's my guess that Miss Roxy, while she shares everything else very nicely, does NOT want to share her bed.

Thoughts?

Have a great day, and don't forget to kiss someone you love!

Audrey is a bed claimer also

she can't get on my bed by herslef, and I won't make it accessible to her because I know she'll pee on it to claim it from the other dogs. (if she could get on it they could get on it too) She only peed on it twice, and she KNEW I was SO NOT HAPPY about it. She gets really upset when she knows I am mad at her, and she never did it again. One time was my fault though, I skipped the right before bed potty time, and I guess the pressure from lifting her up into bed was too much.
We have a memory foam bed too! I love it, Audrey loves it, husband hates it. Guess who wins? happy.gif

Good point

About the baby. If she had a wet diaper at some point during the nap, Roxy would smell that for sure. And urine is definitely a calling card in the animal kingdom.

It was funny when, after we washed the bedding and replaced it we let Roxy back in the room and she immediaely jumped up and smelled the ENTIRE bed thoroughly. Once satisfied she turned a few times laid down and let out her famous "happy groan".

No more visitors in the bedroom!

Emma Louise has done this

I can't figure out why either.. its rare and I think its problalby some kind of cycle that she goes through and trying to show dominance to her brother bruce.

that makes sense from the infant...

I can see her marking her territory though too
bulldogs are very protective or what they feel is theirs..lol

It's GREAT to be the Queen!

comes with all kinds of perks and bonuses.......

Most likely explanation is "marking her territory"

but it could also be that the infant, altho diapered, may have left a tiny trace of a urine scent (dogs can be very sensitive to such odors) and that would certainly prompt a stronger urge to mark...a sort of "king of the mountain" action. happy.gif I would still keep the door closed during the daytime.

LOL. When Roxy gets mad at me...

...her tactic is to ignore me completely. She's rather like wy wife that way. LOL!!

When Roxy does it it's funny. Won't say what it is when Christine does it! lol

You bet! That is HER territory thank you very much!

And she sure let you know how much she didn't like anyone else on that bed! Sophie pees on my bed if she gets really mad at me about something. She knows how to push my buttons, that's for sure:-)

No, that wouldn't be good but...

...as I was reading I could see that being a very funny scene in a romantic comedy type movie.

MINE!

Yup, she was marking her territory.

Hope your family got the message and went home (just kidding)!

Yep ... She was marking HER bed

Very typical.

Norbert did that a couple of times when I was single. Then I started closing him out of the bedroom. Not nice coming home with a friend only to find you have a wet bed. Guess he didn't want a new man in the house wink.gif

I would say so

but if its going to be a problem she can come stay with me,
