Yeast infection treatments.

It looks to appear that Gertie has some of a yeast infection on her neck since she is always wet from drinking - the vet gave me this stuff to spray on her, mainly because it smells good - well it smells good when you spritz it in the air but when it's on the dog it smells worse than her actual yeast infection.
So my question is - can I put the human stuff on her?? It's not to harsh is it?
Whats the name of it? And also does it smell half decent!!!
Jeeesh poor Gertie - what next!!!

I swear by it too

I have used Epi Otic on Sumo for about 5 years now. I clean his ears, facial folds, in between his toes and under his tail, when he had one. An irritation in a facial fold is cleared up and gone in a few days.

The ingredients in it help to stop yeast and bacteria and since it is a cleanser it also removes all that gunky build up. If I'm not mistaken, it contains a small amount of chlorhexidine, which is what hospital doctors and surgeons use as a disinfectant when washing their hands.

I have a great on-line site where you can get 8 oz bottles at an awesome prices so I always buy two at a time Let me know if you want the link.

Lisa.. We treated Maggie's...

...yeast infection in her ears with Otomax and clean her ears regularly with Epi-Otic. It works wonders. You can get the Otomax via prescription from you vet and can buy the Epi-Otic without a prescription.

You can get the cream over here.

Gynelotrimin cream (clotrimazole) is available over the counter in the US. I don't know about it's use on dogs, others may. There are prescription powders for yeast that you can put on her like Nystatin powder if a powder is best, but I would check with the vet. Didn't the vet have an idea of a product to use?

You can in England

Yes the human stuff is fine, here its called "Canesten" (Clotrimazol) it's used for human infections such as thrush and atheletes foot (Candida)
I believe that there are two different strengths, I'd try the lesser strength first.
(I'm just going by what my vet told me)
Julie.

We found the medication worked within a few days..

...and the Epi-Otic cleaner smells nice and really helped clean down deep. We used saturated cotton balls, but squirted the solution down in her ear canal and closed her ear flap and rubbed in really good. Then stuck the cotton in and got a ton of stuff out. We use the cleaner on a regular, ongoing basis.

Thanks Robin

Perfect, I will try that - does it stink?
And how long does it usually take to work?!
