Why just help Cody? (long)

Everyone,

I'm amazed and proud of all the love that came together to give Cody a home. Over a grand in just a few days is amazing and you should all feel proud.

But I do have a question. Can you imagine all the good donations like this can do if given directly to Bulldog Rescue? That $1K could have done a lot of good for a lot of dogs. Or what about other homeless pooches that may not happen to be Bullies, but deserve to be loved nonetheless....(although I do understand our focus here is Bulldogs, but you know what I'm saying)

Maybe bulldogworld can pool together to help more dogs on an ongoing basis. Or maybe start a relief fund for situations like this....to help people like Kristae, who are willing to provide a home to a homeless dog by giving some funds (don't know about providing the full $1000, even getting a dog through rescue requires the adopting parents to cough at least $300, in other words....adopting isn't free). Does this make sense? Is this something we'd be willing to entertain?

Don't know much about this but...

I'm willing to help in any way that I can. This is a great idea!!

Salad

I love a good salad but I'm not giving up my meat. I like a little steak or chicken on the side.

Individual choice...

Plus, if you have cats, they can't go veggie. Dogs can, but not all dogs are healthy that way. I've known some people, too, who were veggies and had to stop 'cause their health began to fail. As with most things, it's an individual choice.

agreed

My mother and brothers are all vegetarians and animal rights people. They are anti-leather, anti meat from ANY animal, anti fur, anti- outside pets, etc. Its allll about the animals. I myself have a VERY soft spot for animals in my heart. I would bring them all home if I could. Im an animal magnet and have to close my eyes and walk away ALLL the time, or I would have a million pets!

I do, however eat meat and have nothing against leather. I get picked on all the time for that. "How can you do that?"

Well, I dunno. I guess I believe in the food chain. Even though we cook and prepare our food, we still are (and were meant to be) carnivores, IMO. I dont believe in hunting for sport. Nor do I believe in needless suffering or cruelty. It isnt necessaryand is morally wrong.

I eat cows. I admit that....but if you are gonna kill a cow, use it! Eat it, make furniture and belts out of it. If you are going to kill and use an animal for ANYTHING (food, clothing, etc) use it all. Dont waste it. I dont see anything wrong with that, but I know some people do.

Im ok with that, too. EVeryone has an opinion. Thats just mine.

My brother has a favorite saying, by the way, that I have always loved! When he is asked about being a vegetarian and eating only veggies, he says:

"It isnt that I love animals, it's that I hate vegetables that much!"

I always thought that was cute...hee hee.

animal activists......soapbox

I agree with Ce....

In fact I really resent CERTAIN organizations for giving us a bad/radical name.
I am also sick and tired of being scorned and scoffed-over because my views don't always coincide with other animal rights' activists beliefs.
For example I am tired of being told "if you eat beef you can't be an environmentalist."
or
" how can you say you are an animal rights activist but you wear leather."

I think no one has all the answers in the world. I am ready and willing to admit that I do not have my mind made up on many issues - I am still a sponge.

applause from my peanut gallery...that's a great

and kind offer...go grab it webbie..lol..ce

animal activists...

I have been a behind the scenes activist since I brought my first 3 legged mouse home at age 5...
...there are some 'groups' that lose my respect, due to extreme measures..and actions un-thought of in the lines of my comprehension and self acceptance..and often these actions and courses they take are almost as cruel as the causes they are fighting for..
It should be done with the heartbeats in mind not judging others beliefs...or with acts of violence...one heartbest at a time...or a whole flock ... how it's handled speaks volumns ...
and often determines the ability to help the next and the next...and on and on...
I for myself only ...and that is the important part.."for myself only"don't do fur, leather or meat...and other wierd choices..but I have no place in my heart to ever judge others for their choices...
and certainly can not in anywhere in my ego find it my place to tell others how to feel or inflict 'my' path on them ..I only have the right ro make my choices...and hold no disrespect for others who have different views then mine and if I did ..ever judge another for not thinking as i do..then shame on me...ce

I'm an attorney. You first need to set up a charitable foundation. I'd be willing to help if you'd like. Just let me know.

tax exempt status - 501c3

Having worked in non-profit for many years, I know from experience that the 501c3 process can be daunting. However if someone is willing to spend the time ogranizing an "agency" I'd be willing to help.

I'll look into it

I know folks who have done this. Give me a few weeks to look into this.

That's great. In fact, if you all can get 501c3 status for allowing the contributions to be tax deductable, sign me up for a large donation.>>>>>

How does a person go about doing that? I don't have any problem at all with it, just direct me on how to do it!

That's good...This board changed my mind about animal rights act

It's funny, I always thought animal rights activits were complete nut bags. I always thought there were way too many hungry kids to be raising funds for animals. But I was wrong.... I look at my little baby, and I can't imagine anyone mistreating her. The dogs are here because we wanted them, so it's our responsibility to take care of them.

Now the one thing I can't give up is my admiration of mink coats.... I still want one....BADLY!

I hear ya ...about three pages back I'm sure by now this was pos

Well, I did not want to go here just yet as I'm still working some details and stuff but since there is several posts on it below I figured I would let you know what is in the works and has been for 3 weeks now. We have decided to do a emergency fund.
Bulldog owners, Bulldogs, people who have come up on hard times and may need help with dog food, vet bills, rescues groups that have a need higher than normal, maybe help with a gas bill for a bulldogger who has suffered very hard times, a month deal, not continued support, anything that falls in the realm of a buldlog or bulldog owner and give special preferance to those who come to this board or those who are well known in teh community of bulldogs. By that I mean its someone we can verify is really in need or has been with this breed for some time.
I want this to go to the people here, friends and rescue groups, medical bills, rx, extra thinsg for those bulldogs in need. things in that area that will help out other bulldogs and bulldoggers. Of course any donation can be made at any time marked just for this fund by saying this is a donation for the emergency fund and 100% will go there. I mean there is many examples of people needing a little help with medical things and many dogs been seen here who have a need for some help and what better way to do it than this way and hopefully can help several Will depend on the funds available of course. Sometimes rescues get in trouble with lack of funds and some severe cases and need for support for a dog. it all happens and all has a need.

I;m working the details on it. so im working something now so to start doing this soon hopefully!, webbie
