I realise I'm in the minority here but why in the world would anyone want to glue a dogs ears?
Leather glue?
Ears aren't life threatening!
Why put your dog through that? Would you do that to your child to win a beautiful baby competition?
When I asked for advice on breeding my girl last week I was given advice which led me to believe that I was far too naive to ever contemplate breeding.
Maybe you are right because I wouldn't tie, strap, glue, dock, crop, wire or force something that didn't fit!
All I wanted to do was breed healthy British Bulldogs.
Leave them alone!
Respectfully,
Julie.
I hope so too!
Hitting the ring in two days, I hope your A** does smart!
Julie.
just your opinion
Who brought up the subject of false eyelashes? (Was it me?..........eerrrmmmmmm NO it wasn't was it!)
Try putting on a false eyelash so that it puckers up your eyelid into a position nature didn't intend and see if it it irritating!
Don't bring something irrational into the equation if you don't want it challenged!
Julie.
Apart from ears that is! :)
Their future may be in our hands.
Margret, if the breeders do this "for Breeding standards or not" I will be extatic!
B/S intentionaly or not have been responsible for such unhealthy dogs it would make any man weep.
Looking at your dogs here they look so much more healthy (as in lenth of nose) I don't know if American Bulldogs are bred differently to our British Bulldogs but they don't look quite so exaggerated as ours. (maybe the Breeding Standard is different, if it is, don't let them shift the goal posts)
Thanks for your post.
Julie.
You're pointing in the right direction
Emily,
Thankyou for taking the time to think about it!
everyone here has to live with themselves and find a comfortable place to "be"
Marilyn my bulldog is brindle and to be honest with you, (don't tell Marilyn) but I used to dislike brindles too! Now I have one I love them, it looks like mother nature didn't miss a spot with her paint brush!
Bless you for stopping to think, whatever you decide.

James and the Giant!!!
James you truly are a GIANT!!!!!
Breeding "ears" won't affect the health of a dog provided that it's a dog in good health that you're breeding with. Gluing ears if it's a genuine health benefit might be acceptable, but to go on and win a certificate for the "perfect bulldog" after manually altering a dog to me is cheating not only the B/S board but also the potential puppie buyers.
Julie.
So you think Bulldogs are pretty??????
Well so do I so leave them ALONE!!!!!!!!!
Julie.
You have a leaking bucket!
If you want to hold water you need a good bucket!
Just because "we can" doesn't mean "we should"
If I went to view the parents of a dog and they both had the "perfect rose ears" I would "hope that the puppies would have the same". If they didn't it would be because they didn't "need" them. (or of course that the parents ears had been moulded to that shape by the use of glue by their owners!)
To change a dogs appearence and then breed or show it, strikes me as cheating!
Julie. P.S. the point about the eyelashes was not brought up by me, I thought it was in the same childish vein as the rest of the replies which in the end I couldn't be bothered to answer.
You are a good man
Thanks mate, you really have helped me realise that I'm not banging my head against a brick wall!
Your dogs are very lucky.
God bless you for your efforts.
