I loved bulldogs for years so when my son wanted one I gave it some serious thought and got one. I TOTALLY love the breed..
but NOT until today DID I really know why...lol
I got to talk to MY dogs a little while ago and you should see the reaction..
BELLA the biggest..
first thing she did was HOPPED into My Lap..and she is not a lapdog..ever..
I got a bulldog for companionship..that must be it..
Gus although Deaf is a great companion too..
so that is IT
companion..
and why did you get a bulldog?
Re: cool..so how many bulldogs have you had the pleasure of know
Three when I was a kid. My parents had another. But I couldn't really have a dog living in an apartment for years as I did. But when I got a house, I got Maybull.
My parents had other dogs, too, including a cocker, a beagle rescue, a couple of little terrier rescues, a small something or other (as rescue) and two pugs.
thanks for POSTING that...what a cutie pie
cute and appreciate the pic..
he is a sweetie
and the best is all that matters...
thanks again..
sounds like a great bulldog
Winston...
Here he is: Preachermans Little Chassis

Re: HOW COOL is that....
Heck, I wasn't interested in showing anything, before Winston. I had to learn how to handle, and the Standard, and that Winston was the perfect pet, and not show material, but working with him in the ring introduced us to legitimate breeders, who saw how much we loved being in the ring, and that I needed a chance with one that was a true hopeful. That brought us Duchess, now our first Champion, and we have gotten Wizard, Daisy Mae, and Stewie, who we are currently showing now. But, now, before we got Winston, no interest in showing at all! LOL.

cool..so how many bulldogs have you had the pleasure of knowing
just curious
if you grew up with them..
you may have had a few of them...
bulldogs are the best breed agree
lots of reason
we researched the breed for almost a year before we got out first one. First reason was they have a wonderful temperment, are very comical and affectionate. Hubby is allergic and since they don't require tons of exercise, they wouldn't kick up alot of dander. That sour mug melts my heart. They have a very unique look and no two bulldogs look alike and there are lots of color variations. A lab is a lab is a lab, to me they all look alike.

They are the best.
I never had seen one until I got Bella..NONE ...not one..
Bella was the first real bully that I seen..well other then her parents..but Bella was really the first..and then along came Gus
will always have a bulldog here..
love the breed
too cool about Tilman...Yea he can do that to anyone...
he was indeed a very beautiful and talented bulldog..
HE SHOULD have won..lol he was the best choice as far as I could see. watched the show since I had a 2 bullies at the time. Once Tilman was out ..did not watch it anymore much.
that is too cool about wanting to rescue bullies now
great response..
Why I got a bully
I am not much of a dog lover, nor am I a real kids person - I like mine and my friends and family's babys but I don't see babys and go "awe" nor do I do that with puppys.

I like dogs, and will stop to say hi, but I LOVE bulldogs.
I watched the show America's best dog or something like that, and Tillman was on it and I was in love with the breed from then on.
It took alot of begging and pleading with my DH and DD to get my Stella, DH is in love with her now, DD still loves her kitty, but Stella is growing on her.
Stella has become like my "therapy" dog, she follows me everywhere and if anyone in the house is sick she will practically lie on top of them until they are better
I am not sure when we'll get another one, but once we can afford to buy a house with some acerage, it will be devoted to rescuing bullies and maybe some horses.
Tiffany and Stella
Why?
When I was a boy the lady across the alley had a female. She was so sweet, but we were still scared a little cause she looked so fierce. Just loved em' ever since. Got one, then got him one of his own.
Steve
I know thats what he says too...they are my furbabies....
I love love love this breed, and the gang has all different personalities which make it very interesting...lol

YOUR husband eh??
you sure do show you love for the breed Deb in your posts
and your pics are totally awesome too
hard to believe you were the one that had to be convinced..lol
well my husband was the one who wanted a bulldog
I was not sold on the idea...I am a cat person...we already had a mixed doggie, but bulldogs didn't interest me at all...it took him 12 yrs to talk me into it...I finally researched the breed and then was hooked...they are great buddies, lots of work, lots of drama, and lots of money both with food, treats, toys, and vet bills...lol but I won't have it any other way...

thanks for sharing your story
Well, for us...
I had always told my kids, that I always wanted a Bulldog. When my son got out on his own, I suppose he thought it time that dad get what he had always wanted. so the How part of the question was because my son listened and was thoughtful. The Why, was because they are such loveable, yet dignified dogs. They can give a forboding stance and expression, and in a blink, break out into the zoomies, and the race is on. We extended that into the show ring, by doing as an overstimulated breeder said, and giving a pet, a chance in the ring. Winston was who taught me the most in and out of the ring. He became just what he was intended to be, a wonderful companion, and now an awesome uncle to our show girls babies.

Re: WHY did you get a bulldog??? I NOW KNOW...lol why..
well, of course I always liked the breed...but when we moved to Tallahassee, almost 9 yrs ago, I was looking for a new vet and found a great one, close to home and he had a female bully named Madison, and she was always in his office during work hours.Well, someone accidently left the back door open at the vets one early evening and I found her after hours walking in the large parking lot.I brought her home and everyone went nuts..She snorted every breath she took..so I called the vet and he came and picked her up from my house..I remember him saying, "I knew no one would keep her long due to the noises she makes" I was just happy to get her back to her owner..So, for years, I saw her at the vets, and gave her all kinds of loving..she just passed about 6 months ag.She was close to 11 yrs of age..RIP Madison
much bully love~Christine, Dupree, Marley and Savannah
awwwwwwwwww so well said...
loved that
and oh soo true..
they are big babies..
My bullies are my constant companions
I see them first thing in the am. and last before bed too..
such a job to be around..
I love the breed
this may change after i dremmel her nails tonight....tee hee
I got a Bulldog because
I wanted a big baby. I got exactly what I wanted. Josie is the first one I see in the morning and the last one when I go to bed at night. She is loving and sweet and goofy and not real athletic, but does like to go. She is everything I wanted in a Bulldog and I got a long tail, BONUS! And she just loves everyone, she is so forgiving. She is my buddy, and I am hers. What a gift in my life, i love her and am very protective of her. She is an absolute deeelight.
