We have walked Angus since we had all the shots and could show him off. We do 2 miles in the morning and 2 at night. I am thinking thats why he is so skinny (I like to say fit) He is a leggy bullie and has no problem breathing at all. We never take him mid day.
Here is a pic showing hislong legs. I like taking pix when he is in the grass to helook lower to the ground. LOL LOL

2 Mile Walks
with Norbert, but usually pretty sporadic. Probably 2 or 3 times a week. He's also a little long legged and a good breather, longer muzzle. The fitter you keep him the healthier he will be and the longer he should live, so I'm told. Just watch him as he gets older and his body mass increases that you don't stress or strain muscles and joints.
Sounds like he's perfect for you and the new family. Congrats.
Re: Who out there takes the bullies for walks?? And how far??
We take both of our's for walks late in the evenings. Its about a mile long. There is ball fields and we walk to these feilds and all the kids and parents just love the dogs. Also the dogs love all the attention. When we get home they crash.

Re: Who out there takes the bullies for walks?? And how far??
Hi.
We (I) take Caesar for a walk morning and evening. I have one problem though. He only wants to go in one direction. Can't get him to turn around and go back home the same way. Needless to say half the neighbourhood has given us rides home in golfcarts etc.
Of course he is a sight when he puts his head down and feet out or simply just lays flat down. At sixty pounds he is too heavy to pick up and carry home. I plan on getting a little red wagon to pull him home in.
Good idea, train now
Try to let a babywalker now, when you are still fit to train Angus to walk next to a babywalker.
Your neighbours will think you are crazy, but who cares!
Serious, you'll have something else on your mind by the time your baby is about to come, and it is fun to do now.
Learn him to walk on leash, no pulling, and tell him NO, if he tries to attact the babywalker.
And if you put a toy in the walker, for a playsession in the park, he soon will like the thing.
Have fun!
Hey Boo, 3 times 2, does that mean six houses????
lol...just kidding
Arthur loves 20min. walks...early am, late pm. romps all day.. :
.
2 mile walks!
Jez can make it from the front door to the end of the yard and back and she is panting. I can make it as far as the street and then I am panting. Actually she wants so bad to run the golf course with Boscoe but because of her tiny trachea I have to keep her inside or she will run herself dead. So we circle the house and come back inside and she enjoys a cool drink of water and I enjoy a cool drink of vodka. That's our version of the Jane Fonda workout.
Walks
Sincere Congratulations on the upcoming event!! It is so exciting to plan and prepare for a new life in the family!!

LOL!
Can you even imagine Milo or Gertie strapped in a jogging stroller with Lisa pushing them around the neighborhood??!! She can even buy a double one for twins and stick them both in, LOL LOL LOL. The photos of the looks on the neighbors faces alone would be priceless, not to mention the photos of the spoiled babies in their jogger! My jogger happens to be hot pink, that would be a good color for those two! heeheehee. OK, no more wine, bed time for me
tires
Neither one of my dogs ever went after the stroller tires, I never even thought of that!! They don't play with tire biters or rubbery kinds of toys (kongs etc)though, they only seem to like stuffies. My Grey tripped over the stroller once, but only once, as he learned very quickly that you can't try to race a stroller or cut in front of a moving one,LOL!
Maybe you can get someone to walk with you with a bike or stroller and see how Angus responds and if he does go after the tire, start training so he's OK once the baby is here! Good Luck!
Re: Re: Wowsers!
plus i cant wait till you post milo in a stroller pix!!!
Re: Wowsers!
Hey maybe you need a jogger stroller for milo!!!! Milo would kick it in the stroller while you guys walk......
You can thank me for the idea later LOL LOL LOL
Re: re: long legs
Wish us good luck He is a very good walker. when he was a pup we had a trainer come to the house. He taught him to walk only at our left side and he does this without thinking!!! But about the wheel thing he really likes to chew on his tier bitter. I hope he dosnt like stroller tires,,,,, i guess only time will tell.
Wowsers!
4 Miles a day!!! If I was in that good of shape Milo could keep up hahaha! Milos the energizer bully he could go forever, but with Gertie we walk her maybe around the block and shes pooped.
Milo has gone on plenty of hikes, swims every weekend for a good hour and a half and he still isnt tired!
I take Abby for walks!
She likes them. But she is distracted easily. Advice on walking with a stroller/anything with wheels. Get them used to the wheels because Abby likes to bite wheels. She bites Forest's Rollerskates and his skooter wheels all the time. Well at least for the beginning of the walk. Then by the end she is usually dored with it. Except last night was a nightmare walk. Her and Forest played the whole way. It drove me crazy. He would "accidently fall" and then she would attack him and he had this stuffed bat and so she decided she wanted it so tug a war was on. I think it took us a half hour to walk around the block.
we have one!!
I have a baby jogger and love it!! It's from California I think. It's much easier to walk the dog with one of these, since you can hold the leash with one hand and push with the other. mine is from
http://www.babyjogger.com LOVE IT!!! Congrats on the baby-to-be
re: long legs
Angus sounds like a great walking partner! Does he walk nicely on the leash? If so, he'll walk nicely next to the stroller later! I had hoped Spike would go on a walk every day, but he doesn't like it at all. Once I get to the end of the driveway, he starts heading back up, LOL! My Grey walks with me alot though, he loves it. He walks nicely next to the stroller too, and doesn't want to sniff everything we come across or mark every bush, LOL! It's nice to have a dog to walk with, it always makes the walk more fun and purposeful, especially if you have a dog that really enjoys the outing and walks nicely on a leash

Re: RE: Long Legs
I just cant wait to get one of the sporto runner strollers so I can take both my babies for walks. Long time for that due dat 12/30/03. Its our first!
RE: Long Legs
That is really neat. Family exercise! Angus sounds like a really good bully. He just has lots of energy that needs to be burned off.
Yes, that was one of the things, years ago, when my buns were in the oven, that I was told. Do a lot of walking. See, Angus is taking good care of you by being sure you get your walks in every day.

Re: Walks..
I love it lil angus is all muscle I really think it is from the walks....
Walks..
I take Jesse on a one mile walk daily. I want to keep up his muscle tone.
Re: Long Legs
If we dont walk him he bounces off the walls all night and there is no peace. So its excercise for the whole family. Plus I have a bun in the oven and its good to get out and walk about!
Long Legs
Our Daisy has long legs also. She does not tire as easily as the shorter Bullies do and she is a good breather. So the walks that you are taking are just fine as long as Angus is comfortable with them and does not get overheated or overtired.
He certainly is a pretty boy!
Jane
Wow!
Angus looks wonderful! 4 miles a day? I'm impressed. Truly amazing!!
Spike does not like to walk at all (unless he is at PetSmart, then he'll walk nicely on a leash all day, LOL), however I've discovered if I don't put a leash on him and just let him walk next to me, he might on a good day, walk around the block. That's it though. He just doesn't like to leave the property.
I cant type anymore
Winston doesnt like to walk very far is what I was trying to say-
But boy does he have lots of energy in so many other ways =) Wouldn't trade him for the world!
walks
Oscar has long legs too - I walk him about a mile or so a day, usually after sundown since it's so hot here. He really loves his walk.
Winston
Winston does like to walk far-
His max is AROUND 3 blocks lol. But he can swim for 30-45 min, play with dogs until mom tells him to rest-but if we go more than around 3 blocks he lays down and wont get up =)
KB
Ps I think Angus looks great-Winston is slim for a bulldog also I just think that is how he is-he doesn't tolerate heat well at all-over 70 degrees and we just go around one block so in reality he gets very little outside exercise-although luckily I live at home right now and its a big home-so he has lots and lots of room to run and play ball etc inside! (how unfair when we were growing up we couldn't throw balls inside the house lol)
