With all this baord talk of food being why poor Lucy's stains are out of control, can you all suggest a name of food that would be good for bullies sensetive tummy? What do you all feed your kids?

They were both started on Science Diet by their breeders. They were doing great, but I read a lot of things about the corn and wheat in it, so switched to Nutro Chicken. They liked it, but soon after Clovis started getting bad tear stains, so they now get a half cup each in the morning of Nature's Recipe, and a cup and a half each for dinner of Science Diet Adult Maintenance. Plus I split a 6 oz. can of Mighty Dog three ways for the evening meal. On Friday nights, they get Popeye's fried chicken. I learned the hard way, tho, to never give them the spicy chicken. Occasionally, I also slice up a turkey and chicken hot dog and put that over their dry food instead of the Mighty Dog.
finding the right kibble can take some time. if you check the ingredients in most brands, it would sicken you to really know what they contain.
if you are looking to switch, i would recommend a kibble that uses quality, HUMAN grade ingredients. you want to stay away from a food based on grains, byproducts, chemical preservatives, and extra fillers that dogs don't need. canidae, wellness, innova, california natural are just a few quality kibbles.
i feed my dogs a raw food diet, they get no kibble and no grains...dogs are carnivores after all just lots of raw meaty bones. they ate canidae previously and did well on it.

Emily,
I bet Sheldon would love some of your grilled chese, he loves anything that will fit in his mouth. I think I'll skip the turkey necks. What section of the grocery store are those marrow bones? Are they "real" bones or those marrow treat things?
Ya, let's do both a FL Bullyfest and a Gulf Coast one. The Gulf Coast one might be more difficult, as it will involve a lot of traveling---FL, GA & AL are all huge states!
Anyhow, have you checked out that G-ville dog park, yet? http://www.dogwoodpark.com/ Let me know how it is. We havn't decided whether we are moving to G-ville, yet as I'm also considering NYC.

Yes, they are real turkey necks that you get at the grocery store and he eats them for a meal sometimes. But, it's not for everyone since I have read, and have been told that it's not a good idea to mix kibble and raw together...so I am careful when I do give him raw stuff.
The marrow bones are more as a treat to knaw on and I get those at the grocery store too!
Murphy also gets carrots and other veggies, fish oil (I'm out now), vitamins, twigs and branches (not by my doing), and right now he's getting my grilled cheese sandwich...it was gross and I couldn't finish it! Tee hee hee (probably not as good as the turkey necks!)
OH, And I would love a Florida bully fest! Count me in on coming...and let's have that Gulf Coast Thinger too!

Hey Emily,
How's it going? Do you really give Murphy turkey necks? Is it something he eats or something to chew on, like a bone? Where do you get them? Also, what's up with all teh "erts" ? Very cute, just curious. Hope all is well. One more thing, did you see the thread re a Florida Bullyfest? Any ideas?

Hi Kandace, Like Lucy, Sheldon has a sensitive stomach. He did well on Wellness Puppy (which is Chicken based) and his tear stains completely vanished (he was on Eukenuba prior). When we switched to adult, I tried Wellness Lamb and then Wellness Fish & Potato, both of which didn't agree with his tummy. I just recently switched to Solid Gold and he is doing great! Another good one for sensitive stomachs, which was going to be my try if Solid Gold didn't work, is California Natural. It is also one of those "human grade" ingrediant foods and is supposed to be very bland, so as not to upset the stomach. I posted the link to it below. Good Luck!
I used to feed Iams small chunks and Piggy always had soft stool, now with the nutro she just dives in ..she loves it! Her stool is normal and she seems to go less frequently.

Personally, I think every bully is different and you have to kinda experiment with different foods and really play close attention to what your bully is doing better on. I had Lola on Wellness and she did horrible on it. Eventually I switched back to Iams (which is the less favorable by other owners)and she does wonderful on it... no more tear stains, vomitting, upset tummy etc. Good luck!

We'll be switching to Canidae shortly... then to BARF eventually
We're moving in September, so once we get into a new groove in our new town and house and life, we'll eventually be getting Grover on a raw diet.
It's all personal choice!

Nutro Senior here.....
I used to feed Iams small chunks and Piggy always had soft stool, now with the nutro she just dives in ..she loves it! Her stool is normal and she seems to go less frequently.
mine eats Nutro beef and rice
he seems to be doing OK on it.
Dante eats...
Wellness lamb mixed with some wellness wet. I know I know- it should be only dry but he won't eat it that way
He does great on it!
I use the Nutro natural choice large breed puppy
Spencer is at 6 months and I am weaning over to an adult food. I will be using Nutro natural choice adult with added glucosamine/chondroitin.
In regards to a sensitive tummy formula, I am not too familiar with a certain suitable brand. Maybe a lamb & rice mixture??
