What else can i use for tear stains? (more)

i've tried hydrogen peroxide, but it did absolutely nothing... is it supposed to take several daily applications to work? Thank goodness i only have half a doggie-face to do, he he he! (;

That absolutly true!

We switched from "Sensible choice" to "Wellness", the same result!

RE: TEAR STAINS

Okay, hello all. I am going to bud in here and give my two cents. I have Spencer on Nutro chicken and rice food. no problems and for tear stains I only attend to his face 3 times a week. I use show eye pads by Drs. Foster Smith and they work great. I have seen on this board everyone seems to have a magical potion or a secret recipe but this is what works for me. Good luck on whatever you want to try.

I agree with the food causing tear stains. As I have said before, Annie (4yrs old) had horrible tears stains until I switched her to Natural Balance Duck and Potato kibble, she has absoulutly NO tear stains and it only took about a month of being on the Natural Balance. I too had tried everything in the book, and nothing worked until I found this food.

we had been working on MoJo's stains everyday ..before bullie fe

slowing they were clearing up...but then when he got sick..a side affect to the antibiotics was all the stains are gone...he is pristine white...so we get to start anew....however that would not be the route to take...sick bullies are way to sad....keep up what your doing it odes take time...and we also use a filter on our water because of the iron content...good luck... ce

Thats interesting..

Gertie had her stain the day I got her... Milo has been on Eukanuba his whole life and doesn't have a tear stain to call his own, I prefer to keep him and Gert on the same food but am starting to wonder if I should switch over for Gerties sake?!

Tee hee hee

I only got half a face to worry about too lol!

I have been doing Gert's for two weeks now, with peroxoide and Balmax once a day and I ain't noticing any difference, I think Im going to start having to do it three times a day!

In my experience

certain brands of food have dyes in them that can cause tear stains and dirty ears, too. When Sheldon was eating Eukenuba he had tear stains and very dirty ears all the time. We switched to Wellness and his ears stopped getting so dirty and the tear stains went away. I'm sorry I can't recommend a product, but I believe they are a lot of things on the market. Check at Pet Supermarket or Petsmart.

You're so RIGHT! If I just peeled myself away once in a while...

... I might have a bright white Grover!

Hee hee. I'm horribly impatient too.

on yourself for slacking, blame it all on this board for taking up your valuable doggie-primping time! LOL!

It takes quite a while to notice a difference. =)

Just be consistant with it. We haven't been, (slacking!) so it's not noticable. Terrible doggie parents we are.
