What do you use for heartworm prevention?
Submitted by bulldogmomma2 on April 21, 2010 - 12:34amI asked this in my vaccination post, but I think it got lost..I did the vaccine on one of my bullies and the others are on the Heartguard monthly..Wanted to get them all on the 6 month vaccine but I see its not as safe as the vets say it is..just want your input..

Heartguard. I am afraid to Frontline Bobo so I don't think I will.
I used Sentinel
which is a combo heartworm prevention and flea prevention, but I live in a warm weather (comparatively) climate, where flea protection is a 9-10 month concern, so I just gave it yearround.

I've not tried the 6 month. I think its like buying a new model car, wait until (a year or two)they get the kinks worked out to buy one. I think you'll get some good input.

Sentinel for both dogs and Revolution for the cat.
Topicals made our Boxers hair fall out so we had to stop using them. We have been using Sentinel for several years with great luck so we naturally just put Farley on it.
