To Webbie - An Idea....
Submitted by admin on April 20, 2010 - 5:25pmI am more or less a 'lurker', i don't post often but love to come to visit this board everyday. I've been reading, or seeing, all the posts from "Anonymous" "Dirk Digler" "Tony"...and got me thinking.....
Maybe an idea to stop the immature people who visit this board to do nothing but cause problems, is to do the following...
Have people 'sign up' for the site, and by that i mean, they would have to fill out their name, email address... and they would have to choose a 'user id' (only 1 user id per VALID email address) that would automatically list the person the post was from instead of having to do it each and every time when posting a msg.
If people want to cause problems by their posts and arguements, it's not going to stop entirely, but at least if you notice someone is coming here Specifically to stir up trouble, you can block them by using the info they give you when 'signing up' for a user id account.
That's just my thought. Maybe others could let you know if they agree/disagree (i'm sure they all will..). Its just too bad that there's so much commotion on this board lately..

That is my idea also as if no one puts an answer to their arguements they will soon tire of doing it and drop off. They seem to do it just to get a response. Could it be they do not have a good life? Just do not respond, I never do.
Perhaps the best approach is to just not respond to
posts by people like Dirk Digler. I know the temptation is hard to ignore, but I've found that once those threads get started, they just go on and on and on. So I try to stay out of them, tho don't always succeed.
Also, I may be mistaken, but I think the Webbie has the means to always tell who is making a post, even if they use another name, and can thus block anyone from the board.

Unfortunately, the way this site is "built." it can't work that
I know, it's bummer.
This topic is cyclical and every now and then, we try to figure something out. Unfortunately, Network54's board system only works this way.
Trust me!
And if we were to upgrade to an Ultimate or InfoPop type Board, we'd lose all the archived posts dating back to 1999. That's not something the Webbie wants to lose!
But it's a REALLY great suggestion and I'm sure EVERYONE here agrees with you guys.
