way OT.....beach wedding....

My daughter became engaged over Christmas, they would like a beach wedding, most likely Florida, possibly the Carolinas. {We live in Ohio} Has anyone gotten married or had experience with a beach wedding? They are uncertain where to have it, other than somewhere on a beach happy.gif. Thanks.

Has she considered Traverse City, Michigan?...

We are in Ohio, too and we went to a beach wedding in Traverse City this summer. It was beautiful and there was so much for the guests to do. The hotel was really nice and the owners were great. They had a beach and lots of water activities (boat rental, jet skis, water trampoline, etc.) There are lighthouse tours in the area and a casino. Here is a link for more information:

The website doesn't really do it justice- there is a beautiful gazebo for the ceremony and a covered deck area for the reception. It is a good option if your daughter wants to stay closer to home, but still have a beach wedding.

Congratulations to you and your daughter!

We were married on the beach in Singer Island, FL

along with another couple. It was very simple, we were married by a Justice of the Peace at sunrise. My pictures are so beautiful with the ocean in the background. It was just the 5 of us on the beach, no one else, as we eloped.

My advice to your daughter...don't bother with real shoes in the sand and make sure she has good hairspray because it can be very windy.

G'Day !!!... there are thousands of beautiful beaches all around

the Coast Line of Australia I would recommend !!!!

My brother Rex flew with his future wife home from Germany to get married on Shelley Beach not too far from where we were living in New South Wales and it was very very beautiful happy.gif

My brother wore suit trousers and an open neck shirt and went barefoot, his wife wore a beautiful cheesecloth type material long white dress and also went barefoot.

It was a beautiful setting and one we will all remember !!!

Beach weddings are quite a common sight on almost any weekend down here !!

Good Luck to them both !!! happy.gif happy.gif happy.gif

Cheers

Jessica, we are near Mansfield............

or approximatley 60 miles north of Columbus, near I 71.Yes, the weather has been a little chilly latley, lol. It is snowing (again) right now. Thanks for the well wishes, I'll pass them along to Kristin!

We had friends that got married in Sarasota on the beach...

I can't think of the specific beach area and what it was called, but there is 2 main beaches and both were very nice!

or even worse than the drunken football game

is the topless women as your wedding backdrop. We got the biggest kick out of the teenage boys in Aruba, you could see them checking out all the topless ladies, and which ones they made sure to double back and re-check.

We married on the beach in Texas

It was March of 1984. I wore a cream colored knee length silk dress. My husband wore a dark tan suit. Our minister allowed us to write our own vows. It was a lovely ceremony, complete with seagulls. I would recommend waiting until later in the spring or summer for a beach wedding. It was still a little cool in March.

My boss got married on the beach in the Bahamas

I'm not sure exactly where but I can find out for you. The only good thing where they got married, there were no people there on the beach watching. That is the only bad thing about getting married on the beach, it is a public place. You can have the place all decked out real nice for the ceremony and in the background can be a bunch of drunks playing football on the beach.

Where at in OH

I am from OH too....northwest of Dayton....and the weather in FL HAS to be better than it is here now happy.gif Major congrats to your daughter!

I got married on the Beach in Grand Cayman.....

and I used a local wedding planner. They knew where to go and what to do. It was perfect! I would suggest seeing if, when she picks her place, she can find a wedding planner to help her.

The Dominican Republic is BEAUTIFUL!

great place for a wedding, and the people treat you great. Aruba is gorgeous too, and the water is smooth as glass, people treat you very well there also.

we saw one in Florida once when we were visiting

and it POURED so hard all over the beautiful decorations it destroyed the flowers and bows! Luckily the hotel had an indoor option. We also went to one in New Orleans, I can't remember exactly where it was but Oh My was it beautiful! I live in NC and every year for 8 years we HAD to go to Myrtle Beach for dance nationals. I HATE Myrtle Beach! If you do pick that area, go to Cherry Grove, or North Myrtle.
