Upholstery cleaning .... maybe I'm somewhat unconventional

Husband left yesterday for a week-long fishing trip in Canada. I decided to use this opportunity to REALLY clean the LazyBoy recliner he has shared with our pooches over the past 14 years.

I've tried cleaning it before with my "Little Green Machine", but have not been satisfied with the results.

So I hauled the sucker out into the driveway, hosed it down, then applied very diluted laundry detergent (via a bucket), and scrubbed (ALOT) ... hosed it down again, then applied very diluted Downey softner (via a bucket) ... then hosed it down again really good.

It's drying in the sunshine and breeze. It LOOKS GREAT and smells sooooo good!!

You will love the leather:)

it is the best easy to clean bullie slobber off

Shh dont tell my hubby.....

I tell him all things can not be cleaned....that way I get new stuff:)

How exciting, Jane!!

I keep planning a new sofa and recliner, with intentions of keeping dog(s) off of the nice new furniture ... but other things keep popping up (i.e., new digital camera, new printer, trip to Vegas ...).

So, I'll keep using throw covers for now.

(Besides, all the dogs that come with visiting friends and relatives jump all over our furniture, why shouldn't the dog(s) that live here?)

Re: Upholstery cleaning .... maybe I'm somewhat unconventional

When my kids were little I used to clean the upholstered patio furniture by putting the cushions out, adding dishwashing liquid and water from a bucket, and letting the kids jump around on the cushions--worked great! Thanks for the memories

Upholstery Cleaning

That is a very cool cleaning technique!! However my furniture is beyond cleaning anymore. So, today I went out and ordered a new sofa and new chair in leather for my living room. It has been years since I had new furniture. I am soooo excited!!

i bet it was fun for the neighbors to watch!

or at least Noah or Pride were probably chuckling.
BTW, how is the young lady?

Photo of a dirty recliner? eeewwww, no .... LOL!

It's drying nicely. I don't anticipate anything bad happening because of this cleaning "technique". There are some worn areas of the fabric where the foot rest slides in and out of position. If it wears out with age, it's time to get a new one anyway!

sounds like a lot of fun!

i hope it doesn'y get all stinky like a car that had it's windows down after a rain does.

any before and after pics?
