So the vet got the tests, I did not get a chance to speak to her but she left me a message saying that she spoke with a specialist and they suspect he has autoimmune anemia (aiha) He will be treated with prednisone for a while. I will speak to her about the results to ask what and if they confirmed the disease.
Dawn...is it possible Betty has the same thing?
He is producing red blood cells like crazy, they just go into blue air...so we will see what I hear when I speak to her.
Next test will be Saturday but I am not sure if it is not too soon to see any changes. In the meantime I also added liver to his diet boost up iron, of course Lily had to try some, so they had a lovely stinky dinner today and they are in love with me. I cooked for half an hour for them and then had a toast myself, LOL. And they still hang out around me if perhaps I am not done spoiling them
Kisses to your bullies.
diagnosis is a step in the right direction. All this unknown mus
would be very strange if Betty has the same thing. Hope you have answers and a fix soon!

I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

LOL, ...and Diane...you have a great sense of humor...
I am hoping to start eating normal once we get those dudes on the road to recovery. Just that I always run out of time and energy to take care of myself after taking care of them
Would make one louse mother.
Diane...good to hear from you...
Yes, I notice, but ...to me, each and every change is just that, a change. They are still the same beautiful bullies I fell in love with. And I actually prefer them older. They give us their whole lives and best years, they wait patiently for our returns from work, they sleep through our fevers, sicknesses plastered to our sides, they accompany each meal and car ride (if they can), they hide from every bath...I enjoy each moment so very much. Those thinner face and pointy heads are just like wrinkles on people's faces (well, how could bullies get any more precious wrinkles, LOL)...just give them character and make them look oh so sweet.
Thanks for the update, and.....................
I'm so glad that you had a lovely evening with your babies. At this point, it's really the little things that you are so grateful for.
Your respone last night about Miss Lily's "pointy head" and that senior look was so touching. I know that look well. Have you also noticed that their face also gets longer and thin. But their eyes still have that "something special."
Enjoy your toast......... Stay strong for your Miss Lily & Sir Chester. P.s. I have a Chester also. Diane
****what is frustraing, they tested him for it before and it was
so I am still not sure if it was false negative...I just need to confirm it with her...
I hope he will start to get better now
I once had a rescue who was anemic and I fed her raw chicken livers. She loved them.

Liver is a good idea...
I am happy they have come up with a diagnosis for you. Perhaps you can move forward with things a bit better now that you have a bit of a focus.

It is a very difficult time for you both, my love and thoughts are with you.

Tom called yesterday and said that he doesn't feel it's what Betty is dealing with. It's an auto-immune disease in which their own body attacks it's RBC and destroys them. The thing they see in the test is broken pieces of RBC's left behind. Betty has none. And since her heart seemed strong, we suspect bleeding. Her poop is light tan and normal, so suspect her liver. May go for an ultrasound of that next... Could also be a brain bleed... At least her head tilt/jaw seems to be improved and I think it was unrelated and responding to antibiotics.

I hope that in Chester's case they saw those damaged cells and have a confirmed diagnosis so you can start treatment!
Also, be careful about feeding liver. It's high in Vitamin A and that is not a vitamin that they pee out excess. It stores up in the body and can become toxic.
Give Chester and Lily a pet from Betty and I!

I will be praying for you guys Bernata. At least now you know what the problem is....

So glad you got an answer!
Hopefully he'll continue to improve. Sounds like they are loving the liver.
I am so glad you had an enjoyable evening with your babies.

when she first came home
I hope he continues to feel better. Sounds like liver is a hit
at your house
I am glad you have some results and a direction to go with treatment. I don't remember worrying so much about my human kids. I'm sure I did, but having a bully kid sick is a very close second.
