So today was a big day, testing PCVs to see if his blood count went up (should have) after being few days on iron supplements and eating better than many humans do. Well...rats, they did not. He is kind of holding still, only one lousy point up, but his gums are pale and the vet was concerned. But he is not going down, so what we did is re-ran his tests for autoimmune hemolytic anemia. They were negative a couple of weeks ago, but now we wonder if they were false negative. We will have results tomorrow. So we still do not have diagnosis. If this does not confirm anything, I will insist on her talking with blood specialist from UC Davis, the best veterinary school around here. It is still very frustrating, Friday he looked lethargic but picked up on weekend and was kind of back to himself.
We will not be going for test tomorrow unless she wants us to check on something else. So he will get a break tomorrow as well. He is a sweet boy and wins hearts of anyone who sees him, you should see how he makes people smile with his dopey cute face and walk...I just want him well and healthy.
hope they get to the bottom of this soon..
I really feel for the both of you going through this
hope you get some solid answers real soon
so your boy can start to feel much better
will continue to keep you and Chester in my thoughts

when she first came home
My son's lab had an autoimmune disease...
I think it was called hemolitic thrombocytopenia with very similar symptoms to Chesters. He was too lethargic to even get up and his red count was practically non existent. They put him on a high dose of pred and he did get better. Chester's symptoms sound very similar. Sending big prayers for him.

Saying prayers for Chester.
Hope you have a diagnosis soon. It's so frustrating when you don't know what is wrong but know there is something. Good thoughts and big hugs!

It just breaks my heart that it is taking so long for you to fin
I'll keep praying something shows up so he can get better. That's a very prestigious college of medicine. I'm glad it is an option for Chester. I'm glad he perked up a little over the weekend.

thanks for asking Diane...
Lily is doing better, I do not care if it is temporary improvement, this dose of medication seem to work right now and with vitamin supplements and proper diet she sometimes surprises me, she behaves like younger version of herself...especially that the vet gave her some medications that help with arthritis pain but do not mess with her belly. So she is moving better, breathing...well, good days and OK, but you can tell she is much more comfortable now that the fluids have drained and the congestive heart condition is being controlled. She is looking so cute, with her pointy head (it's the aging thing, that flatness is gone and bony structure is more prominent). I just love seniors so much and she is so lovely at each and every stage of her life
Bernata.....Thanks for keeping us updated
and understand your frustrations. I can almost see that dopey baby still working the room. He is so lucky to have you and your husband. Please know that Chester & Lily are in my prayers. How is Miss Lily doing?
You are doing all you can right now.
I am praying for him
