dogs' personalities are vastly different and uniquely their own. Wether this dog is a purebred or not isn't going to change his temperment or personality. Go by his behavior more than his ears. He is REALLY cute! Have you had a chance to spend any time with him?

Looks like a nice Bully to me. Gettin' plenty of air in there to keep things dry and sanitary The good natured manner says it all. I stopped a a friends yesterday didn't even get out of the car, and all the folks there and the neighbors all came out to see them. So from the happy look on the face, I'd say Bulldog!

We had a Bulldog with "prick" ears, came from some wonderful lines.
I would worry more about his temperament and how he is going to get along with your other dog then to focus on his ears and whether or not he is pure bred.

a Warlock. Trust me, I saw it in a movie. Just be careful if he starts to twitch his nose. Especially if you or your credit card starts to levitate aftewards.

The size, color, face, body all look like a bulldog. The ears mean that dog would not do will in the show ring, but since you don't want to show, it shouldn't matter. He's a cute dog and I'll bet, very sweet.

non-conforming ears...not the length of them but the lack of "proper folds". Some of the differences I see in this dog versus the other one someone posted in this discussion is the overall size, the placement of the nose, the width of the neck, etc. and aside from the ears, no one should question that this is a Bulldog...the "proper name" for what is commonly referred to as an "English Bulldog".

the french/english bully mixes that i mentioned. adorable no less.
and either way, if you raise the dog right, and show him/her leadership and rules and boundaries from the day you bring it to your home, and give it proper exercise...you're more then likely to have a well behaved good tempered dog.

I have a chance to adopt this bulldog. I am not interested in breeding or showing or anything like that. I do however want to make sure it if full blooded for the temperment and personality. I have one now and want to make sure it is not mixed with anything that may make it different. i know two are never the same but want to have the same breeding. Just want to know if it looks full blooded.

I've seen some bulldogs with ears that stick up a lot more then others. I've also seen a litter of english bulldog/french bulldog mixes and their ears stood straight up!
Even if it IS a purebred it is still going to be different

I loved Tillie's ears

Flying Nun
I wondered if anyone called them that. It would be a dull world if every Bulldog looked and acted the same.
Steve
I heard them called fly away ears.

I agree--full bulldog with nonconforming ears--looks like the
cartilage is thicker at the ends--that would make them stand instead of folding. What a cutie pie!!!

My old girl ....
My Tillie had 'bat ears' - here are some pics...

She's on the right...
She was all bully, just had non conforming ears. Didn't make a difference to me, actually added to her character. We called hers' 'flying nun ears'
Always in my heart...
Yep, He looks like a bully to me, too.
Remember Carlos and his girl? She had those cutie ears that stuck almost straight up! She was definitely a bully though:-)
Amy and Sophia
I had a bully bitch once who had ears that stuck out and
we DID call her the Flying Nun.
when I read this thread..I thought of Tillie..
very very pretty bulldog
great pic of her
and will be fondly remembered..
her ears really suited her..look cool
It looks like a purebred bullie

Agree. It's a bully with non conforming ears...
bat ears, like my Belle.

I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

one more picture
It appears to be an "English bulldog" with nonconforming ears.
The Bulldog Standard describes ears that fold into a "rose" shaping.
another picfture
do these ears look ok? is this a full blooded bulldog?
I am trying this to see if it works. Please overlook if not.![[linked image]](http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/ac148/kmadams1/DSC01982.jpg)
On the front page of this site, there is a link
to the breed standard. It gives a very good description of what the ears are to look like.

Maybe what you saw was a French Bulldog instead of an English Bu

Ollie's are little and spotty, Mozie's are big and floppy...
I still think he will grow into his
Just how big? French Bulldogs have stand-up ears, and they seem big in proportion to the body.
