two female bulldogs

Can two female bulldogs get along in the same house? I have a two year old and would like to get another one the same age. Does anyone else have two females together?

I have two females

I have two females, one with a pretty strong personality. I need to keep her in check at all times. I had two dog trainers ask my why in the world I would have two female bulldogs living under the same roof. Needless to say, they didn't work with my dogs with that attitude. Would I have two females again. No... I would definitely mix it up with a male. This is just from my own perosnal experience.

I have 3 female bulldogs

and they all get along very well. Regardless of the gender, I think problems are more likely to occur if you have one older dog, say around 7 years or older, and you bring in a puppy that will constantly annoy the older dog. In that case, I suggest someone get two puppies instead of one as they will entertain each other and mostly leave alone the older dog.

It is a total blast to have two English Bulldog puppies at or about the same time. It is so much fun to watch them play and grow up together. Both my Boo and Clovis are almost 8 years old now. But I got them about 8 weeks apart, and they are 8 weeks apart in age too. I can't tell you how much fun it was when they were puppies.

two females

I have three females in my house right now. One is a 10 yo Chinese shar-pei, who bothers no one, the others are bullies, one being 2 1/2 and the other 14 months. I feel is definitely personality. Lola isn't dominate but very barky and intense about objects, Bella on the other had is submissive to me, but can get attitude with the others. I just keep her in check not saying that on occasions she hasn't snapped, but I correct her immediately and it seems to be working (for now). I have five males, and that for me seems to work better.

I have the opposite mix.. 2 boys (neutered)

In some breeds bitch to bitch aggression can be much worse than dog to dog. Bitches, especially close in age, do come with challenges. From what I understand if you do have an all-out bitch fight those girls will have to be separated for the rest of their lives. With strong leadership and training it can be done, but be wary, especially with the closeness in age.

Also, if you are set on a puppy make sure you go to a reputable breeder who can pick out a puppy that will fit with your other female (more submissive, etc.). If you get stuck on getting a certain colour/markings you may end up with more trouble than it's worth. The breeder will have observed the puppies as the grow and will better understand which personality would be a better fit.

I would strongly consider rescue though (reputable, not all rescues are created equal). The foster families will know the demeanor and attitude of the dogs in their care and with patience you could save a life and find a perfect match for your present girl.

I have some links about bitch-bitch aggression from another forum if you want to e-mail me I can send them to you.

of course!

If you maintain the leadership in the house, any sex dogs will get alone, male male, male female female female. you just need to let them know whats expected and that they're not to try and be alpha at any point because the positions already taken by you!

I had two female bullies...

And they got along. Though the ages were quite older than your two year old. We brought home Camilla when she was 6, and our Tillie was 10. There WERE spats, they were feeling out who was going to rule the roost, so to speak.

But by and large, they were okay together. I've heard it CAN be a challenge though...

Always in my heart...
Our Tillie

I've got two female bullies and a female Boston....

all get along just fine they are all spad so that probably helps...

I had two and had to re-home the younger (bigger one)

Winnie was about a year old when we decided to get another one. My hubby wanted a bigger Olde English Bulldogge. We got Sissy at 8wks. The breeder thought that since Winnie was older that she'd be a mother figure for the younger one. She grew to be around 90 lbs. She was smart, sweet and never offered any aggression towards humans but she couldn't/wouldn't get along with Winnie. They had terrible fights, trip to the vet for stitches kind of fights. We tried everything but it got to the place where we couldn't have them together AT ALL! It was awful and totally not fair to Winnie who always got beat up. We found a home for Sissy where she'd be the only dog. Our next dog will be a male.
