THUNDERSTORMS

MY Dog can sense a thunderstorm coming. When it arrives she shakes and drools long after it is gone. Same thing during fireworks. Breathing heavy for two - three hours I know can't be good for her. Any suggestions?

One of my bulls did the same thing before and during storms. But as soon as the storm passed she was better. It seemed to help her if she could sit on my lap during the storm. Sorry I could not be of more help.

thunderstorms

I learned this off the Learning Channel from a well-known dog trainer. Buy a "KONG" (all pet stores seem to have them) and put "CHEEZE WHIZ" in it and give it to her every time there is a storm. They will suck on it like a pacifier and forget about the storm. They will forget everything around them, it certainly works for us!!!!! The other suggestion the trainer had was to de-sensitize your dog by playing thunderstorm tapes quietly while playing with her and continually turning the volume up until its pretty loud and she's not scared.

Hope this helps

Christine
