Are they not?
This is how cute we are leaving the house for obedience class.
Gretl is an absolute disaster in our obedience class. Class is full of the most well behaved, docile labs, beagles, and frou-frous, who are all 2-3 years old. And Gretl is a SPAZ.
She's so smart, and knows exactly what to do, when to do it, and listens to me and follows my cues on our walks... but get her in that class and all she wants to do is wiggle, get loved on, and play. Or course, she's the class clown and cracks everyone up constantly... but she feeds on that. It was complete silence last night as the instructor was speaking. All dogs were in their "Sits with patience" and facing forward. Gretl lasted about 59 seconds before she was staring at everyone wondering why they weren't paying attention to her... and she let everyone know that she was annoyed, in the complete silence, with the most pathetic ewok gurgle ever heard by human ears.
Which of course cracked everyone up. Which made her wiggle spastically. Which started the vicious cycle all over again.
Siiiiigh... Practice makes perfect!!! But as pointed out to me last night, I wouldn't love her as much if she was boring. She makes me laugh, and that's far more important than being the "star pupil." I do wish however, that there was a rambunctious, out of control dog in class with us so that we didn't automatically become "that" dog in class. LOL...

We call that badger face at our house !!!!!
When Auggie runs he looks possessed!!!
Is Gretl channeling Vince Vaughn?
Lots of class clowns become very successful - I think you have a star waiting to happen!
tee hee, she is too funny!
such a character!

You just have to love those girls.
Ellie is my little maniac. My sweet Bailey is an angel however, I could write a book on Ellie. Yes, it does make you love them that much more.

Gretl is an absolute doll.

She so reminds me of Olivia as a pup.
Olivia figured out early that she was smart enough to manipulate her environment (and us) to her liking, and she still does. She is smart, strong willed and Miss Charisma... always ready to play to the crowd. But, oh, how I love and enjoy her. Your Gretl has that same spark in her eyes. She reminds me of a little girl I once taught in kindergarten, who told her mother on the first day, "They won't rule me!" Have fun!
.....well, then - sucks to be you!! LOL
nah, just kidding - you'll have fun no matter what with that girl - she's so full of it for sure!!

thank God we have 5 training centers within 45 mins from me who offer a buffet of classes - Twister will be starting his CGC class in a few weeks - cannot wait
Yes I would say so...she looks like a maniac
cute as hell though but her eyese give it away. She's trouble.

Toby would lay and snore during his puppy class
It was hard to get him to do anything besides the 'stays'. He was champion of that in his puppy class! And we had some problem behaviors at home that I tried to get help on, and the instructor could just not imagine that from that sleeping, snoring puppy!
Gretl is such a hoot. I just love her. I bet she is exhausting though!
Janice
Oh Julia, she is so beautiful and you can just see her fun spiri
Laughing out loud all the time, I'm so happy for you!
Hehehehe.....
That story made me laugh. I can totally hear the ewok crazy gurgle in the middle of a quiet class.......hehehehehe. Toooo funny!
I love me some Gretl stories!
She just cracks me right up! I think most of us have had an "ewok" moment in training classes. Maverick got so used to getting attention at class he still thinks he's the star pupil walking in their with his little strut!

LOL!
I always find the hardest part is not cracking up myself when he's being a nutcase, cause as you said it only makes things worse!
And as Jen said, trust me, you don't want another nutter in your class, they would just feed off each other! And just think of all the good work you are doing for the other dogs in class working around "distractions"
Nope, no puppy classes offered.

She's a character!
Always in my heart...
Maybe she should have been in a puppy class first?
those classmates would have been more her age and personality than the more mature "basic obedience" dogs

....and you so don't want another dog like her in class...they would totally feed off each other!! LOL
LOL... That sounds like Ajax in obedience class...
He disrupted a few lessons with his ewok gurgle

That's how Spanky was in class
it was more like social time for him. He was always teacher's pet though. When the teacher would explain what we were going to do in class, he would sit right in front of her and watch every move she made while the other dogs would wander around. He would do the tricks, but only when he wanted to.

My new motto! "No giggle, no wiggle!"

Perfect Training Obstacle
She is a great training obstacle for the other well behaved students. Now the adults just need to be trained to not giggle and she wouldn't wiggle. It all has to do with the humans
She reminds me of Ester.
no sympathy from me....she sounds WONDERFUL...
and those other folks with their docile Labs and Frou Frous are just plain jealous! LOL
but she "is" that dog
her antice make me smile, hope she never changes

insane eyes!
cool photo thought.
You might try this in class with her. Sit on the floor with her butt to you and her facing the instructor when the instructor talks to the class. Message Gretl's ears it will calm her down.
Just you WAIT.
I'll be handing her over to you to deal with...
LOL!

Oh Gretl
You really know how to work a crowd. And that's the sign of a true star!!

The ewok gurgle (or the "lamb" as we call it in our house) is a sure fire way to get attention. I know you'll do great in class - but only if you want to
