Terrifying experience

We had an awful thing happen the other day. We were outside playing with the boys with the huge tennis ball we bought at Target. We live right on Ashland avenue in Chicago which is a very busy road. We were VERY careful not to let the boys get too rambuncious with the ball for fear they might run out into the street. We were actually out in our front yeard which faces a side street but Ashland is only about 40-50 feet away. Well, the ball got away from Churchill and whizzed out onto Ashland avenue with Churchill running right behind it and me close behind screaming for Churchill to stop. Cars park on the side of the street and THANK GOD for that extra few feet because the ball only went about 4 feet into the street. I was running and screaming for Churchill to come to me and he saw that I was hysterical and he moped over to me like he knew something was wrong. The amazing thing was that there were no cars coming down Ashland at that time. We are so GRATEFUL the ball didn't go any farther! Someone was definately watching out for Churchill. We really learned our lesson and will only take the ball to the beach now where it is safe for them to run.
All of this happened in the course of a few seconds. Afterward we just grabbed him and hugged him for a while.
And yesterday I was rear-ended while sitting at a stop light so I've been having a teriffic week so far. UGH!

Someone was surely looking out

for him. So glad nothing bad happened . Hope you were not hurt in your accident.

What luck

That's why we fenced in our front yard not for the looks but for Josie to have a place to chase her ball. She loves to play soccer.

It sounds like you have had a tough week I hope you at least didn't get hurt.

Give Churchill a hug from us.

my heart rate was up just reading that!!!!!

BE CAREFUL!!!!!

geezzz

first of all - we got rear-ended on the way to pick up the new car a few months ago. Thank god I had a rear-tire carrier that acted like a shock absorber....2g worth of damage..... Hope you guys are ok.

I know how you feel with the near-misses. I had a very scarey one with Maggie in the fall. No matter how careful you are with them, they always seem to do the most undesirable things! like murphys law or something!

Kiss the boys for me!

Kris

I don't know who to feel the worse for....but being Churchill is

Thank the stars...and his little bullie angel riding with him...
I'll go with you ....that's awful.....what a heart stopper indeed....and it does happen quick doesn't it..I swear..it is the folks who really try to be so careful...that get this sorta fortuna dumped on them..and the ones who just don't bother, their pooches have 10 lives....what is up with that?
....sorry about the rear-ended to...I hope you weren't hurt or whiplashed?!!!
..Those crazy city drivers....your not even safe sitting still...hum?
....When I lived in New Orleans they have their own rules ...if it's in front of you bump it out..if the parking space(which are rare and coveted)is too small play bumper cars with the car in front and in back till the space is large enough to park your car....
street too narrow well that's what those sidewalks are for....chuckle..
please take care of you...I miss your more often posting of yesterdays gone by...
.....and I'm off to stir up a cauldrin of toil and trouble for fortuna..the little wench!hugs ...to all..and my special smooshes to Winston....ce
