SURVEY: Should exhibitors be allowed to advertise their wins in the...

Should exhibitors be allowed to advertise their digs wins that include the handlers of the dog that day.

In other words, ads should have the dog only(no faces) or can
include the owner, handler, breeder, judge....etc.....

Where are you coming from, Marcel?

You asked an opinion about advertising. Where was it an avenue for you to defend yourself in using a handler? I've used a handler in years past when I couldn't get away to shows, etc. NO WHERE was that part of the survey?

In answering your question, is having a picture of the DOG only for an ad in the Bulldogger any less revenue than having one with all the "faces" in it????

interesting but............

I put this out there because people have problems with those who advertise.

You have to know that the BCA depends on revenues
from advertisements in the Bulldogger.

You'll also notice Eukanuba and other food companies advertise, and they sell more than the companies that do not. It's life.............

Professional handlers work hard at developing a reputation for handling good dogs. If that's true
why can't he win?

Years ago I was heavily critized for using a handler on Ch. Smashercal's Ms Allie. I needed
help because we were canpaigning two dogs at once.

My biggest critics for my using a handler, used the very same handler two years later to campaign their champion to many a BOB and Best in Show.

I guess it became OK then......

My experience, Marcel...

Unless it is a big Specialty win, where you also honor the judge, the show, the win, etc., advertising one's dog is about the DOG...not what face was with it.

When one crops a picture and has just a beautiful picture of the dog, it allows one to see so much better what this dog looks like. The wording in the ad can say, "above win with Ch. so and so at Prairre K.C. Thanks to judge Mr. Big Shot and handler Ms. Jones"

When one has a picture of the dog, the judge, the handler, the owners, the trophy presenters, etc....you sure don't see much of the dog. And isn't that what it's about????

Opps.... It's dog wins, not dig wins.....for you legal types out

I wish thay had spell check. Typing was the only course I ever flunked in bizness kollidge.

read this...........

Some all breed judges are not so good and will pick a dog that wins alot before taking a chance. That's pure and simple.

The ads help the whole picture. Notice how some put their dogs on here with clothing, caps and other things they bought their buddies? They are just showing off their loves.
Breeders and owners that show their dogs are doing the same.

Ever see an ad for chickens on asle and they put a photo of a dead, wrapped chicken on the page?
Show off's................You know what a chicken looks like but that ad works better than the one without.

Why does everybody have problems with advertising? If he does, he's an idiot. If he doesn't, who we talking about????

You know of Cool Dude because of his ads, his acomplishments published in magazines and probably from your in depth understanding of what goes on in the ring and I admire that.

Leave my dog out of this. Cool Dude just loves to give the ladies a lift when they have the smells..............Hey, he's a dog!

Have a very pleasant day.

Marcel

So then it is the "face" and not the "dog"????

<<<<<<<<If I'm showing the dog and I want the all breed judges to see who has this winning dog, I make sure I'm in the ad with the dog. If I win big, I advertise that win, judge, dog and me. It helps make it happen again. >>>>>>>>

Marcel, what difference should it make to "all breed judges to see who has this winning dog", if they are judging the dog, and not remembering your face and ads?

If it is a great dog, then if any good handler took it in, it should win, correct???

Do they have spell check feature on these boards?

Do they??

Sorry top ramble on .

I may advertise a dog for general purposes such as stud service or look at our girl ads. Just did one of our foundation bitch, Roxie, who passed away six months ago. That ad was on the back of the bulldogger, current issue.

If I'm showing the dog and I want the all breed judges to see who has this winning dog, I make sure I'm in the ad with the dog. If I win big, I advertise that win, judge, dog and me. It helps make it happen again. You see them same with the kid that wins at the county fair with the prize pig.
Difference thereis, they eat the pig soon after.

Note, I do only do this show advertising with a worthy dog.

There are lots of those in the Bulldogger.

There are also lots of not so hot dogs but I'd bet they're great companions and they better be.

So, check out my old Roxie on the back of the current Bulldogger. She was a great dog. Oops, there I go again..... I'll post that later.

Sorry to mention the handler thing. I have no problems using them but my fellow bulldoggers
here in So.Cal would drop if I did.
I have future shows where I might. We'll see what commotion that creates.

Marcel
