Hey guys!
I've got a ridiculous question. =)
Grover had his palate trim and nose opening (stenotic nares) surgery on June 21st.
He STILL has his little blue "dissolving" stitches in his nose. A few weeks after the surgery, and they were still there, I called the vet and the receptionist said that they dissolve inside and the outside "knots" will eventually fall off. I let it go.
Well, ONE of the six (three on each nose flap) did. The rest are *STILL* there! =) They don't bother him in the least bit. But over a month later, I'm thinking he's looking REALLY silly. He's fully recovered! You can tell by looking at them that they've done their job. His nose has healed back and is nice and OPEN. (His breathing is spectacular, too!)
Any suggestions for us? Is this normal? Will they fall out EVENTUALLY? =)

Re: Stubborn Stitches!
Hi Marci,
My oldest bully, Miss Pudge, had a punch biopsy done on her nose close to a year ago. It took the better part of three months for the stitches to dry up and fall off. She looked pretty funny too - she had purple stitches.
I had called the vet and was told not to worry it takes them a bit longer to dissolve.
Glad to hear your baby is doing well.

a month ?
I would call the vet again, it has been a long time.
another stitches question
how long do you have to wait to give your bullie a bath after he/she has had stitches? Murphy got neutered on Tuesday, and he needs a bath!!! Since it seems he can't avoid peeing on his legs when he tinkles:) He is 11 months old, and he still doesn't really have the hang of the "boy dog pee stance" he always trips or shuffles and pees all over his legs---lovely isn't it? But he loves bath time so I guess he can dirty himself all he wants:)
3 months!? Whew!
Thanks Joanne!
That makes me feel a lot better. :) They've never appeared to be infected or bug him at all, so I haven't been worried about them causing any harm. But a month later, we're still explaining to strangers ALL about the surgery and why he had to have them. =)
I guess I'll just wait it out!
Talk to me in two months... ;)
