Spike and the new Vet

Spike went to his new Vet today and he is taking a whole new approach to his problems. All of which are from before I ever got him from the rescue group. First tackle his immune problems, he still does have Demodex, he has yeast infections, ear, eye, even muzzle (the wrinkle problems I was writing about). He's on new medications, systemic and topical. He's on Rx dog food, Potato and Duck, limited ingredients. This is costing several hundred dollars on top of the over $1000 I've spent and it hasn't even been a year yet. I used my CC and will worry about paying it off later. This is very depressing and I don't know how much more I can do and afford. Thanks for listening.

Net

If you have a paypal account I would like to donate to Spike-just 10 dollars as that is all I can now but i would like to help out your family as well.

LOL.....

Since I simmer the garlic for a bit... Lola doesn't smell like it, but I once gave it to her a bit raw and she had garlic breath... LOL! Not only do we have to beware of the gas... but now the breath too!!!
They sell raw garlic (in water or in oil) at the supermarket. It's like $2.50 for a pretty big container. I hope it helps! Good luck!!!

Still has Demodex?

How long has he had it? I think once that is gone you will have yourself a normal bully in less than six months. The rest of the problems most likely stem from the Demodex. I know you and I were discussing how our dogs synptoms sounded similar. Diesel is on Wellness Fish and Sweet Potatoe and is thriving. The food you are using is also a good choice. I don't believe the food is a miracle cure but it does help speed up the recovery process. Sounds like you made a good choice switching vets. I don't understand why a vet doesn't keep up with skin scrapes until the Demodex is gone. I used Ivermectin for both Diesel and Rugby and have been successful first time. I have never used the dips. I supplement food with Vitamin E capsules every day along with sprinkling a half teaspoon of kelp on their food. Diesel is thriving now.

not sure I'll be wanting to kiss him.....

but I will try adding some garlic to his food. Thank you for the tip.

I'm definatley looking for a holistic approach to this. Get to the source of his problems and eliminating them, rather than continue to medicate the problems once they arise. The Rx potato and duck dog food limited ingredients is another thing we're trying. I'll try some garlic and any other suggestions are very welcome.

something I do

I don't know if you're into holistic medicine... but I swear by it. I add garlic to Lola's food (very strong anti fungal). She loves the flavor and (knock on wood) is very healthy. I'm not insinuating that it will cure all his problems, but I'm sure will help with the fungus. When I boil her chicken I add 3 huge spoons of garlic to the chiken and let it simmer for a while then i just scoope it out and add it to her food (about 2 tsps per cup of dry food & chicken). Good luck and a kiss to Spike.

A clarification about the ring!

The person who told me about Ce hocking her ring was not Ce. It was someone else who I will not identify unless he or she wants to come forward. When I posted the request for additional funds for Cody, I was going based on that information. Only later did Ce send me an email in which she referenced the ring, and the context of that email was clearly that she was not seeking contributions, just the opposite, she asked me to not do so. But I had already posted my message based on the other source.

Poor Spike

Poor Spike, Poor Net! Hope things get better for you two.

Do you have a PayPal account?

If yes, please post your email address so anyone who wants to can make a donation.

re

and by that I mean, I vented out of frustration today about here we go again with Spike and the Vet, but that was not to mean I'm asking for donations. I really do have my hands full now with this dog and this situation. But just because I'm upset about it, doesn't mean I want Gary rallying everyone on my behalf (as much as I appreciate the sentiment) so I thought it better to maybe not mention it anymore so it doesn't look that way. no ouch intended towards you and sorry you took it that way, really. my email is cneinhorn@aol.com, it is on some of my posts, others I forget to put it in. I assumed you had it because you've emailed me off board before.

that's not what I meant

whatever I do will be kept to myself so noone feels the need to help out, we know how Gary likes to rally the troops, and that would make me feel uncomfortable, that is all.

Net ouch....

I wish you would put up an email so I could talk to you..
but the comment about the ring hurt a bit..I privately told that to Gary it wasn't meant for the board.."they were not suspose to hear about that..."and I told Gary because we are friends...and it was "part" of a explaintion on how no matter what it was my responsibility to handle Codys needs...sorry you that way about me...blessings to you and yours...ce

If you change your mind, let us know

!!

thank you, but

I can't accept it, your sentiment is touching and I do appreciate it though. Thank you.

Thanks Gary, but

as much as I appreciate the sentiment, he's my responsibility, unknown baggage he came with and all.

So even if I hock my rings, you won't be hearing about it.....

Take care Spike...nm

We're pulling for you Spike, and your mom!! : )

Even though it is frustrating, what you are doing is
more than admirable, you are being a responsible steward. It will all be worth it when he's better.
Spike's circunstances and your peace will continue to be in our prayers!!

Peace
