sorry ya'all first time I've sat all day....

and of course it would be right here with my favorite bullies and their two leggers....smile
....I don't have enough time to read any posts.drats and drouthers..my mum was under the weather today... ..and now it's meds all round for the yelps...but I wanted to update all on Cody...
he's much better...is drinking water...playing,grinning..and decided today while I was gone to spend most of the day with the hubbie and family watching Indy 500 and hanging out inside ....I was thrilled when I checked in first to see him laying around with all the other yelps,,and then to see him waddling and smiling at my return...
he is pooping normal..drinking lots.
his eating seems to be the problem..he just has such a hard time...getting food into and keeping it in his mouth...his teeth aren't too bad...but some of the front ones are either broken or worn way down...it seems his tongue is so big...and always hanging out. he tries to toss his food into the back of his mouth but it slimes and shoots right back out....and if he drops it on the floor ..for some reason ..he can not pick it up..his face is so flat ...and his tongue just hangs in the way....and I'm not sure but it seems his vision ..may play a part in this too?
...Today I had Hubbie boil him a chicken breast..and he thought I said give him that and some sweet potatoes..( I actually said mix some of the broth, chicken and sweet potatoes in with a dash of his kibble and see if he's willing to eat...)
well hubby hand fed him the chicken and sweet potatoes...and even though it all kept shooting out of Cody's mouth ...Cody thought this was pretty cool...and after hubbie just kept giving it back to him ..he managed to eat most of it....smile..
thank you all for your good vibes,prayers..and for loving the Cody so much...
have a blessed holiday....ce

Glad to hear you got to just enjoy yourself..

You certainly deserve a day of just sitting back and relaxing. Good to hear all is well, and Cody is doing ok.

Funny you mentioned sweet potatoes, Chancey and Fluff LOVE them. Anytime we have them for dinner, they get their share.

Oh Cody!!

I will NEVER cease to be outraged that there was a price tag placed on him at all when he out-lived his usefulness to the previous owner.

Those heartless, evil people ... to let this Bully's misery continue and not lift a finger.

Big smooches to Cody and big wishes for better days ahead.

Cody's teeth

they need cleaning..but the gums appear to be okay...
when you watch him eat it appears to be his breathing ..and that big tongue that cause him complications...sounds wierd but I really think it's his throat ...and he really can not pick up anything from the floor that he drops...I don't know if that's because the lump keeps him from bending his head down far enough ..or his face is so flat and he doesn't have useable front teeth to scoop...or his vision is distorted...poor fellow he has so many multiply issues...
we have softened his food....but everything just falls out of his mouth...I'll just keep hand feeding for now and making sure he gets enough in...I don't care if it takes all day...smile
...he really needs to gain some weight..thanks ...ce

I'm glad you had a day off finally

You really deserve one. We all missed you and worried about your and your family. NEXT TIME JUST TELL US. But so happy to hear about Cody and hear that all is well. Just wanted to say you were missed and loved

Ce, about the "lump"

Either I missed the posts this week or you haven't mentioned. Did the vet ever decide what the lump was, and what needs to be done?

Sounds like Cody is doing better.

Poor guy has a hard time eating. Are you trying to make him like a broth type food. Is that what you wanted your husband to do. That might help.

Okay...no more scares!

I'm so glad Cody is improved...my heart is beating again now! Thanks for taking the time to post, ce...you must be exhausted! I hope your Mum is okay...

Sleep well....

Poor guy

I'm glad it isn't anything serious. I wonder if making his kibble moist with hot water or adding gravy to soften it will help him to eat better. Maybe a mushier substance will be easier for him to keep in his mouth and he will not have to really try and chew too much.

If some teeth are so worn or broken, hard kibble may be hurting him. Did your vet by any chance check his mouth and teeth to be sure there are no bad or infected teeth or gum areas?

Kisses to that sweet, good boy.

Thinking about you all

Glad he is doing better. Go for the chicken breast. Somebody posted about some kind of hypertrophied gland under the tongue that caused a problem for a bully. Maybe at the next vet visit, they can take a good look around and see if they see anything. Maybe that thing on his neck is connected with this in some way.

FYI If you have a Sam's or Costco near you, they have a bag of frozen boneless chicken breasts so you can thaw them in the microwave on a plate and boil them right up. Flora will eat 3 a day if she's on my chicken and rice diet for upset bully tummies. I usually just pull it apart in small pieces and she can slurp it up. You know, I don't think bullies use their front teeth much at all. Abby chewed on something years back when she was older and pushed the front top teeth back and they had to be pulled. Dhe I think mine have gobbled the food down whole a lot without much chewing.

Keep up the good work. Thanks for posting tonite.
