Betty is, indeed, an inspiration. At this point, all I want is for my girl not to be in pain. I gave her some pain meds at lunch today so I'm hoping that will help a bit. I'd like to wait until DH comes home to have a surgery done but I will do what I need to do, of course.

...when her eye was painful, you may be right on about that. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the vet says it's something else and she can be treated and back to normal right away. But if she does have to have it out, just keep Betty in mind. She had hers out in an emergency, not even time for fasting (she'd just had breakfast!), but it went very well and she was immediately pain free when we took it out. Tell them to possibly not give her an injectible pre-anesthetic if they can mask her with iso gas.

Celine, I am keeping Stella in my prayers. I know you've tried everything to fix this. I know how hard you and dh worked to make Stella better so she wouldn't have to lose her eye. I am so sorry she is in pain and most likely facing surgery. Many hugs and prayers to you and Stella.

When mine had glaucoma, and the pressure got really high they gave her some topical medicaltion to help bring the pressure down, but if it's really high, I don't know what they would do.

Stella is in my prayers...I hope she isn't in pain.

I know that Punkie was having more pain with the entropion than she has had with the surgery. I'm so thankful that her infection finally cleared up so she could have her surgery done. She feels great and looks great...first time I've seen her left eye open in weeks!

I'm sure Stella will feel better after surgery...bless her heart. There's nothing worse than seeing them in pain. Please keep us posted.

Stella is going to be just as beautiful and amazing one eye or two.. atleast the poor girl won't be in any pain anymore.

We've been dealing with this for about 7 months now. We've tried drops, ointments, steroids, pain killers and even chemotherapy. Nothing has really worked.

Glad to hear PB is on the mend from her surgery yesterday!

You didn't say what the problem is with her eye but is it something that you could use Atropine eye drops for? While we were trying to clear an infection in my Punkie's eye so she could have surgery, we used Atropine for the eye pain...just a thought.

Keep us posted on your girl...keeping her in our prayers.

but I want to offer encouragement to say that if the eye does indeed need to come out, the dog can live comfortably with vision in one eye...ie, Dawn's BETTY. Their depth perception is affected and you may learn to compensate a bit by waiving food treats past the nose on the way to the mouth so that the dog doesn't feel she needs to 'snap' out to receive her food...it will be right there at her lips waiting for her.

I'm so sorry! I had hoped she would get better and be okay. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your pretty girl.
