I've used a dremel for Grovie's nails for years but I wasn't actually the one dremeling until about 2 years ago. The one I used to use was corded. I bought a new one, cordless, with a battery a while ago...
I find I have to leave it plugged into the charger ALL.THE.TIME. If I unplug it, leave it on the counter, and go to use the dremel later that night, I get one burst for one nail it powers down. It's totally drained.
Is that common? It's really irritating. I feel the battery should hold a charge for at least a couple of hours if not a couple of days... no?
I'm going to just buy a new one, but I don't want to do that if they're ALL like that. LOL...
Feedback is appreciated.

Dremel
Julia, call the Dremel Company. Your Dremel may still be under warranty, and they really stand behind their products!
Good luck!
Cord / cordless
I wonder if you'll keep putting her up on the counter? The cordless is nice cause I want to do it like a bonding thing between the boys and I, and using the dremel anytime or anywhere so the grinding / trimming just seems natural to them. JMO

It should hold the charge
better than that, for sure. Why not take it in and maybe they will put a NEW RECHARGEABLE battery in it @ no charge.

Good Luck!

cheapo Wal Mart one here too
the $20 one with 2 speeds. I got a new one cuz the old battery wouldn't hold a charge anymore - it was almost 3 yrs old and I don't think those rechargeable batteries are made to last a long time. Can't find just a replacement battery
The new one is holding up fine cuz now I guillotine clip the tips and then just dremel to smooth and get them shorter. I can go 3 weeks before I have to charge again.

No, mine stays charged for a long time. It is a "Dremel" brand,
too-not a similar type brand.

And always .....Winston
Blue rechargeable Dremel....
Mine has to stay on the charger all the time. When fully charged it is only good for doing nails on one dog. I thought that was normal, now, I see that I must have a bad battery/charger!

It is the blue battery powered one from Walmart. I think I'll just get a real, corded one. I dremel her up on the counter, right by an outlet anyway...
Thank you!!!

Blue cordless dremmel
I use this model and charge the battery once and i get 3-4 uses out of it. sounds like maybe the charger is bad or your battery is not taking a charge. my mom had the same thing happen as you, took it back to walmart no questions asked. mine hs worked fine and hold the charge a lot longer that i would have thought. my .02s. Tamsen
the batteries on my dremel hold a charge for a pretty long time
I think you have a bad battery. I would exchange it.
Janice
I have a cordless dremel
With the rechargable lithium battery. I've had mine for 11 years with no problem. Mine had all the bells and whistles (which I've never used... lol) but it's been worth it.

I only use the one with a cord, and it's the dremel brand.---
I don't like the cordless ones, because they don't seem to have enough "oomph".

When you're doing nails on 4 dogs every week, it takes a lot of juice.
I used to use a cordless dremel for a friend's bulldog (I used to handle him at shows, and always trimmed his nails), and I hated it. It didn't seem to hold a charge for very long and it just wasn't powerful enough for those thick toenails bulldogs tend to have.
Mine
Is a Dremel brand. 7.2 volt 2 speed. They say it will hold a charge for 2 weeks. I've used it 2 times on both dogs, and a couple touch training trials, and I just checked and it is still charged, and would do the dogs nails. No slow down noted. But it is new and I've only charged it once, but that was 2 weeks ago + .

Depends on the brand
of Dremel you have and the quality of the battery.
I bought one from Walmart years ago and after a couple of years the battery only retained enough power to do a couple of nails at a time then I had to recharge.
I now have a much better and more expensive Dremel that I bought from Sears and it holds a charge for weeks if not months. It is a carpenters dremel not just a home use dremel.
I alos have a cordless (cheap) clipper that never holds a charge and I always have to keep it plugged in.
It sounds like you have a bad battery
Mine is not like that. I charge it before I start doing nails and I dremel all the dogs at one time. The battery lasts through them all and still has juice left.
