Seasonal or Food Allergies? Or Both?

Another question (sorry):

Rocky has been on Solid Gold Holistique Blendz with a bit of tuna or chicken mixed in for about 2 months now. He always licked his paws and had some redness/pink coloration around his mouth and still does. I also just added (a week ago) Missing Link to his diet.

About two weeks ago we noticed a new bumpy spot on his right side. The hair there has now fallen off and seems to be starting to heal. He also has developed "tracks" on either side that look like dirt -- but aren't, he has more acne on his chin and his face wrinkles seem more raw and irritated than ever.

Could this be the food? Just seasonal allergies? What should we do?

Karen..

A dog can become allergic to something that they were never allergic to before. And if he gets hungry enough he will eat just the kibble!

What if?

What if he won't eat that way? Just keep trying with the food and missing link only for 3-4 weeks?

He's had tuna and chicken before with no problems. But not sure what in the Holistique Blendz could be causing this. Strangely enough -- his stools are firmer than ever. Isn't that contradictory?

allergies

Sounds like both. Try feeding him just the kibble without the chicken and tuna. Give this at least 3-4 weeks and see how he does.

Allergies?

Early this year I switched my 3-year old to Canadae and soon after she started throwing up daily and started getting pimples again. I decided it was too rich for her and went back to Bil Jac. The vomiting quit and the pimples went away. I've always been concerned that she get the best food and was told that Bil Jac was not that good. She is a picky eater and Bil Jac is the only food she has ever eaten without "enhancements". I would go back to your original dog food.
