In answer to your question, White dogs have more hair per square inch than dogs of color. Therefore they have more hair to shed. That is why Sunflower sheds more from her shoulders and head (which are white) than she does from her body (which is red). And Daisy, my all white girl sheds a lot more than Sunflower or any of the other dogs who are fawn, red, brown, etc.
I am sure the white hair shows more just because it is white. But there is also more of it.
I hope this helps!!

White Hair
Thanks for this great info. This is my third bulldog and they have all been colored except for white patches on their head and neck. I noticed that this white fur sheds more than the colored stuff but just thought maybe it grew more around the neck and head. Great info.
Bushing and Shedding
You are entirely welcome! That is one of the things I learned from being on all of the Bulldog lists that I am on. I am constantly learning more and more about our beloved breed!
Jane and the Bully Pack
Yep cant wear black anymore in our house!!
I've never seen a dog shed so much as Gertie does... Or is she loosing her baby coat like Christine said? Is that possible.
I have noticed Milo looses a bit more hair on his white chest but I just thought it was more obvious than his dark hairs.
Thank you Jane!
Grover's white scruff is constantly shedding. I mean, I can touch him, and I walk away with a white mitten.
His brindly rest of him doesn't budge (unless we're talking about his bald alopecia'd sides...
)
But I've always known it's not that it just "shows up more." It truly does shed more. Interesting to know that there is more OF it. Thank you!!
Julia
Thanks Jane
Interesting ,I did not know that...
Thanks for all your help.
Something that really helps me
is using Pet tabs and brewer's yeast w/garlic. When I start to notice Ruby shedding, I remember that I have been forgetting to give her these two vitamins. I swear they really help. They work on my roomie's pug too.
