The house next door has a large female Raccoon living in the soffit. I saw her babies last year and her for 3 total. Now only one, but I just saw her at 9:19 am. I though it might be sick, but looks good to me. Buddy I think had tapeworms and they can come from Racoons. Also it's getting ready to snow here so that could be it. Also it's breeding season for them I guess as that's what it says online. I thought I might get a trap, and if I'm lucky take her out to the woods. If I can do it quick, the house is owned by a bank, and the tenants aren't paying rent so they won't pay for anything else. Any bait ideas, of tips?
Here are last years kits.

Tuna...
Had a racoon for a pet and she loved tuna.

Also, as pointed out in that Amazon link I posted above, the bab
from their mother, which causes a whole other problem. And, as you noted, mother raccoons are scary ferocious when someone comes around their young.

That bank really needs to do something. Those raccoons are probably tearing things up in the attic of that house.
Hopefully, tho, a professional trapper won't kill all of them. That would be my big worry about calling one of them. I have a problem with a nutria living under my driveway. I would like to have it trapped and then set loose in a rural area. But most trappers will kill them instead and sell their fur.

In thinking more about this
you would be very smart to hire someone/call animal control to take care of this for you. You never know about rabies and wild raccoons can be fierce. I wouldn't want you to get hurt or bit in the process of trying to catch one. I know your intentions are good but be safe.

Awww
they're darling! Yes I'd suggest a have a heart trap. They'll pretty much eat anything, so it won't be hard to bait. LOL The one we had used to love APPLES. =)

Someone mentioned that most animal shelters use "Havaheart" trap
if you have a no kill shelter near you, give them a call. Many such shelters will loan one to you. If they won't, check Amazon.com and Craigslist or Google. The company that makes them also has a web site but I can't recall if it's web name ends with .org or .com.

Raccoon bait
I use a Have a Heart trap and cat food... works every time. I usually have to trap every other year. They have a "party" with my garbage cans (and of course the contents!).
Thanks
Those were last years kits. I was hopin' to get her out before she gets pg this year.

Oh My...
They are so cute, but that's TROUBLE. They can create a whole new world of destruction, those guys.

We have them "move" into camp from time to time. We built a live trap, basically just a wooden box, just about the length of an adult raccoon. It has a sliding door that drops down. In the middle of the box, on the top, there is a dowel that goes straight up. Towards the back of the box a hole is drilled, and another dowel is inserted through the hole so it is both inside and outside the box. This dowel has a very slight notch in it to catch on the edge of the hole. Then a third dowel rests horizontally across the top of the middle dowel (which has a bevelled top so there is a bit of a channel to hold the horizontal dowel), and a string on either end is attached to the door and the notched dowel. You put the bait (they LOVE sardines) in the box behind the notched dowel. When the racoon enters to get the sardines it rubs the third dowel, pushes the notch, and drops the door. Works great. We then relocate them a LONG ways away. lol
Here's a quick diagram. Hope it helps. Good luck!
p.s. we ended up installing a little catch that would spring and lock the door after it drops. (We used an old door latch). If you don't, chances are they will turn in the trap and get the door open.
Have a great day, and don't forget to kiss someone you love!
