Tonight I was letting the two boys in from the back yard and my son came in the garage door and left the door open which I was unaware of and Quigly darted out the door into the front yard. I proceeded after him, but of course it became a game of chase within seconds and of course he wound up out on our very busy road which has a slight hill so cars pop up over the hill without seeing whats in the road, a 72 lb bulldog who WILL NOT come back. So here's me screaming, my son yelling and my husband came running to see what was going on. Quigly proceeded up the road, back across the ditch, back into the road, back into the ditch where my husband tackled him from behind a pine tree. After it was over I was giggling from the stress but I was so afraid he was going to get squashed and mess up a car really bad right in front of all three of us. Boy, do we need to work on sit stay when the door opens:) I really don't think we would be so lucky next time. Hope all your bullies are doing great tonite:) Malinda and the pack
Julia, Hope those dreams never come true!
Quigly has always been a city dog too. Even in my back yard which is chain link and locked:) he runs from us. I've been trying to work on that too, and my husband and I had talked about how much damage would be done if he did escape. He loves to run from you because whenever he went out to do his thing, he was always on a leash. You might have to watch Grover really close until he gets use to the freedom;-) Of course Flash can't run away, but I had a boxer a few years ago and he wouldn't have done that to me! Malinda
Oh Malinda... that's one of my worst nightmares.
I'm SO afraid of Grover escaping like that! Poor you!
I'm so glad you guys were able to get him.
Hugs to the next Secretariat. Heehee!
They just think it's a big game, don't they?
And I kid you not - last night, I dreamt we were living in our new fenced in yard (we currently live in a city and Grover has never been anything BUT leashed) and Grover escaped thru the fence gate that a delivery man left open. And got hit by a car. I woke up in such an awful sweat! AGH!
So I'm very very glad your story had a happy ending.
Julia
Re: Quigly thinks he's in the runnin for the Triple Crown! (kind
Bless your heart Malinda, y'all went on a wild bully chase for sure!! Glad to hear that everyone made it back home in one piece. My tank got away from my son yesterday at my daughter's T-ball game and decided he wanted to become an honorary member of her team and came thisclose to joining the team on the field!! Everyone was laughing except my son who was trying to catch him!! Tank looks at my son as an equal to himself fo he doesn't follow commands from him very well, he's getting better andd better with my hubby and me though I guess maybe because we are so much bigger than a child. Take care of Quigly and the gang!
