Question..Dahlyla started limping...

yesterday but when I rub and put pressure on the leg she's fine with it. Today it looks like it's a little harder for her to walk on the leg but still when I put pressure on it she's still fine with it. Also, every now and then she'll stop limping completely but within the next few minutes it starts up again. Have any of you had this happen? I just thought I'd ask here first before rushing to the vet bc she doesn't seem to be in pain. Thanks, Chantall

Thanks..

I will def take the advice given and will rest her for 3-4 weeks..

She is

5 months old and she is always playing with my two other dogs and I don't know exactly when it happened so I'm not sure...

Could be just a muscle pull...

just rest her for a few days, don't let her run around or climb on furniture, take her outside on a leash if she runs around. My guys have limped badly in the past and after a day or so of rest, they were fine.

She MAY have partially torn her

meniscus, the pad inside her knee joint. How old is she now? was she romping around prior to this happening?

I always suggest you treat it as a muscle strain first...

and that means lots of rest, no stairs and no pleasure-walks, certainly no jumping on/off furniture for 3-4wks. If its muscular and you only rest her for a day or two, it hasn't had time to heal and it will return, perhaps taking twice as long to heal then.

If its something genetic like a slipping kneecap (and you wouldn't be able to tell unless you knew exactly how to check) it will come and go, usually occurring with more frequency and finally causing the dog to not want to walk, to sit down at every opportunity, etc. and you WILL then need a vet exam.
