Question for the Vegas folks...

Patti & gang:

What the heck do you do w/your dogs in this heat?

I'm heading out to the BIG city of Barstow (I was born and raised there to visit my parents next weekend. My hubby and I want to take Bailey with us but are concerned about the heat. It's only for the weekend.

I was telling David (my hub) that you all have bullys in Vegas. A weekend in Barstow in the summer can be done... Right? She's used to Laguna Beach weather. Is there things I can do to prep her?

Thanks,
Tonya

I agree, and be careful about traveling.

Make sure your car has a good air conditioner, have plenty of water, ice, plastic lemon, and a couple of full size towels.

Reason is, if for whatever she is getting over heating, car problems, etc, totally wet down the towel, lay it on the back seat and have her lay on it. Then just put water on her to wet her down.

As far as once you are at Barstow, then just as Dave said, you only let them go out a little bit for potty time. You can tell how she is doing, if it isnt bothering her. If that is the case, depending if they have a grassy yard, patio with shade, etc., she could stay out long with you if you are doing something. But other than that, you just let her be a cool couch potato, and rememeber to make sure she has plenty of water available.

Have fun....

Re: Question for the Vegas folks...

Actually mine go outside for 15-20 minutes at a time 3 -4 times a day, of course i have a kids pool and cold water outside during potty breaks plus shade and i usually go out with her! Just keep them in the cool house excpet for brief potty breaks!
