I wonder how easy it is to use. You all know I have not been able to post even one picture. I think it is because of naming and resizing, although I have tried to do both with the programs that came on the computer and it never uploads. Do you all think I could do it easier and have a better chance at uploading with the Picture it Platinum. At 14.99 it is certainly cheap enough to give it a try. I also want to superimpose a picture of Flora onto some lace cap hydrangeas since I can't get her near them to take a picture. (I know if she would sit and stay, it would help.)
So what do you think? Will it help me?
Thanks a lot, guys.
I'll go by Sam's and pick it up.
For the price, I don't think you can do much better
altho Photo Explosion is close, but about double the cost. It's very easy to learn, and Ce is the expert, so she will help you.
As for posting photos, what program are you currently using to down size your photos? I may be able to lead you through the process step by step, if it's one of the programs I use.
The most important steps are these:
1) down size the photo to less than 100kb. I now have a 4 megapixel digital camera that takes most photos at about 950 kb to 1.5 mb. Thus, I typically have to reduce the resolution size by about 95%. Doing so has no impact on the quality of the photo as it will appear on this message board (but printing the photo at that resolution is not recommended).
2) this is the biggest mistake i keep making: make absolutely sure there are NO spaces or symbols in the file name you give to the photo after you down size it and "save as" to your computer. Thus, "my bulldog" will not post to this site, whereas "mybulldog" will post.
3) after you have down sized the photo, and given the down sized photo a new file name (as long as you do a "save as", the original photo remains on your computer), next make sure that you are saving it as a JPEG photo. Right below the white block in which you typed the new file name for the photo, there is another white block called "File Type." Click on the down arrow to the right of that block and choose JPEG from the long list that you see.
4) and of course, make sure you have logged into Network 54. If you don't see a button with "INSERT OBJECT" right below the big window in which you type messags, then you have not logged in.
If you feel adventuresome, consider down loading a program called Ulead Photo Impact 8.0. You can get a free 30 day trial version from www.download.com. This is the program Melisa, Lynn (from England),and I use. It is awesome. Harder to learn, but definitely worth it.
Some of its features are even easier than Picture It. For example, to down size a photo, you should click on the File menu, then click "Save to web" beneath that. A window then opens that shows side by side thumbnails of your photo in its original size and the size you want to down size it to. There is a slide bar below the latter. You just put your cursor on it and drag it either left or right to make the photo bigger or smaller. As you move the slide bar, you will see the photo size in "kb" change just below the "after" thumbnail.
The best part of the program is that it has an "Objects Library" for all the cut-outs you may do. Once they are in the Objects Library, they are a cinch to insert into other photos. Just double click them and they are added to the target photo.
I love this program ..because it's easy..and I had never used an
months ago....this one isn't as complicated as most...just play around a bit..and you'll be able to put Flora anywhere you like....smile...ce
