question about junior handling...

I am not sure which forum to post this question. As most of you know I have started showing Diesel. My 10yr old daughter appears to be very interested and wants to try it. I notice at shows they will have a special time and ring for the juniors. Does she need her own dog or could she use Diesel? I really want to expose her to this while she is showing some interest. It would be a great mother daughter bonding time. Besides it beats coloring or playing monopoly.LOL

All my kiddos are Juniors..are you in the states?

Cindy,
If you are located in the states I can help answer any questions you may have regarding juniors. I have finished my application for judging all breed juniors also.
Please let me know how I can help.

Cindy, need to check with CKC

Their rules on Jr. Showmanship might be different than at AKC shows. I believe the dog has to be owned by the Jr. Handler or family. But, AKC changes rules so often (like they recently did regarding Bred By Exhibitor class), it would be best to go to the AKC web site and check all the rules, etc. under Jr. Showmanship.

I do know you (the Junior) has to apply for a "number". Then, you have to put that number on the entry form. Until they have the number, they can't enter Jr. Showmanship competition for AKC. Again, have no idea how it goes in Canada
