A QUESTION ABOUT A BREEDER

I HAVE A QUESTION.

THERE IS A CERTAIN BREEDERS SITE THAT I LOOK AT (WHO I WILL NOT NAME).

IN THERE PUPPY SECTION, THEY ALWAYS ARE SELLING PUPPIES THAT LOOK TO BE IN THE 3-5 MONTH OLD RANGE, AND THE SIRE AND DAM ARE USUALLY NOT THEIR DOGS. THE SIRES AND DAMS ARE USUALLY TOP QUALITY DOGS THAT MOST PEOPLE WOULD PROBABLY RECOGNIZE.

WHY IS THIS PERSON SELLING DOGS THAT ARE NOT FROM THEIR LITTERS? IS THIS WHAT PEOPLE CALL A BROKER?

AND EVEN IF THEY DO HAVE A PUPPY FROM ONE OF THEIR DOGS, IT IS USUALLY JUST ONE PUPPY, NEVER A LITTER.

Thanks.....n.m.

Great Patience Patti, Great explaining on your part too!

I believe Patti has explained all of this thoroughly and done a great job not condeming the breeder of these dogs at all just explaining. She is simply pointing out the facts of breeding and different approaches to it. Alot of times people wait to see what a puppy will look like as it gets older to see if it should be show quality before the decision of selling it. Hope this helps Ron. : )

YES

I REALIZE THAT, BUT I HATE PUSHING THE SHIFT KEY.

I LIKE LOOKING AT BULLDOG SITES, BECAUSE I LIKE BULLDOGS.

I COULD CARE LESS WHAT THE "PERFECT" BULLDOG IS. I DON'T SHOW AND NEVER WILL.

Ron, a request, please.......

Do you realize that when one types in all capitals, it means they are shouting???? It is tough reading your messages without thinking you are shouting at me.

I never said I didn't like her "type". What I said was that she is a respectable breeder/exhibitor, her lines are from different other lines across the country, but IF you were looking for a puppy, it just depends if you like her "type".

Now, since you aren't looking for a Bulldog, why do you spend so much time asking questions and looking at Bulldog sites? With all the looking and reading you have done, do you understand what "type" means???

How would you describe a perfect looking Bulldog? What would you be looking for, if you were wanting to buy one?

I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A DOG

I JUST LIKE TO LOOK AT SITES. I AM NOT LOOKING TO BUY A PUPPY. I WAS JUST CURIOUS TO THAT QUESTION I ASKED.

I TAKE IT FROM WHAT YOU SAID YOU DON'T LIKE THIS PERSONS "TYPE" OF DOG TO MUCH THOUGH.

Ron, PLEASE don't be so defensive..

You did ask if this meant she was "brokering" pups.

You need to study dogs, the standard, go to some shows within a driving distance and watch the dogs.

Type is just that.....someone's interpretation of the standard. You might have five dogs that all fit the standard as to how someone interprets it. However, one might feel a Bulldog should have more "bone". To another they might think the dog is fine. Another might be more of a stickler on soundness/movement, does the dog come down clean in the front or toe in? Some people don't mind if a Bulldog toes in a little, some don't want it.

It is the same as you watching the Miss America contest. Each one is a beautiful girl, and won her state's competition. However, every one might not be "your" type that you consider the most beautiful, but to someone else, she does. But the night of the competition, it is a vote of that days judges who decide in their opinion which one is most beautiful.

The same can be said for "type". Some prefer a smaller, typey dog, some like a beef, larger one. Some might not mind a little leg under the dog, others feel that it makes them too terrier like and don't like it.

It is only something you learn after seening a lot of dogs, a lot of good dogs, and studying the standard and deciding for yourself what "type" you like.

I NEVER SAID THERE WAS

I WAS JUST ASKING A QUESTION BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW.

AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU MAY NOT LIKE HER "TYPE"? DO YOU MEAN HOW HER DOGS TURN OUT OR WHAT?

Re: WHY

You will see the names of the sires on other peoples sites, because they probably own the stud. Perhaps you might have seen one or two of the bitches on another persons's site, because may-be they sold the bitch on a co-ownership, and still co-own, etc.

This person is a member of BCA, and is very active in exhibiting her dogs. This is not a puppy mill. You might like her dogs, and you might not like the "type", but there is nothing wrong with the breeder or her site.

WHY

DID YOU PUT MY NAME LIKE "RON"?

THE REASON I ASKED THE QUESTION WAS BECAUSE I SWEAR I HAVE SEEN SOME OF THE DOGS ON OTHERS PEOPLES SITES.

DO YOU KNOW THEM?

"Ron"....I answered you.....

These puppies are from that breeder. It is as we have always said, a breeder will hang on to their pups for 3-5 months to know how they are turning out, and what is a show prospect.

And, just because the sire and dam doesn't have that persons kennel name, it doesn't mean they are "brokering" puppies. The one I explained to you as an example is a bitch they bought from another breeder, thus is carrying a different kennel name. However, they own her, showed her, finished her, and then bred her to another champion, thus a different kennel name on the sire.

I SENT IT TO YOU

Re: A QUESTION ABOUT A BREEDER

I find it hard to believe that the sire and dam are top well known champions, because if they were, they would not be putting puppies on a brokers web site. It could be they are saying they go "back" to....Either way, if someone has a web site and is advertising puppies that they are not the breeder of, then yes, I'd say they were brokering puppies.

I am very curious though, can you send me their web site??
