Boo is now 11 months old and still does not jump to this day. When she wants to get up on the sofa, she basically climbs instead of jumping.
I've also noticed that when she gets in the position to urinate, her left rear leg bends in a normal fashion, but right rear leg goes into a position that suggests she is trying not to put full weight on it. Here is a photograph of it. Does anyone else's bulldog squat like this, or do you think this may be a hip problem? [She doesn't ever seem to be in any pain, doesn't limp, etc.]
Thanx, but does she
also seem to favor one leg over the other, as Boo does, i.e., her right rear leg just doesn't all the way down like the left does?
will ya give the girl some privacy!?
lol!
Emily
I don't know if she's favoring one of her legs, but my little papillon will spin around in circles while she pees!
Georgia
Georgia does not "jump" on the sofa either...she will slowly climb up (so gracefully
unless she is chasing the cat or "Rebel" the mini dachshund...then, she can really jump up there pretty fast...so it really depends on her mood. She also squats in a similar position. I have had her hips checked and everything is fine. Good luck.
Dem quackers sure looks like dey wants her to get em,
maybe shes just trying do decide if peeing (always a high priority) is more important dan getsen dem!
Decisions, decisions...
the Molester
Thanx, good point
Now that you mention it, she does stand on her rear legs fairly often, and it doesn't seem to be a problem.
R.e. x-raying her hip, I took her to a bulldog vet earlier this year and he said to wait until she is 1 year old. He didn't think she had a problem, but wanted to treat her conservatively first, so he put her on Glucosamine/MSM.
I think all us girls have our own style
lol.....
Seriously, why don't you just have her hips x-rayed and it will ease your mind? You don't have to sedate her to do it. She is pretty mellow and will lay there for the x-ray. Then you'll know for sure about her hips.
She is a pretty hefty girl, so many she just decided it's easier to climb on the couch than to jump...
I believe you've posted pictures of her standing on her rear legs for things???? To me, that is usually a sign their hips are pretty good. When a dog has bad hips, they usually can't/won't do that.
