I'm finally getting around to registering Marley but my fiancé and I are struggling with the name. Can we just register him under "Marley" or do we need to think of some long name with a title like Sir or something? I notice that the forms mentions the names are subject to approval....Will they not except his reg if they dont approve of his name?
Hulks name
Insatiable Hulk Czaplicki. He can never get enough love or food!
our last name
Our last name is Romeo. I call all of our dogs Romeo's _____. i.e. Romeo's Maggie Mae, Romeo's Dash Rip Rock, & Romeo's Amos.
Of course we think Dash Rip Rock was a really cool name. Dash for short.
And yet more...
Or Marleykins Muffin...
Or Mudpie Marleykins
or Marleykins Monster Kisses
or Momo Marleykins (momo is a kind of dumpling)
The same thing happened to us...
we registered Mags as Lil Miss Maggie Mae and it came back as Lil Miss Maggie Mae II. I was kind of disappointed. I don't want my girl to be 2nd fiddle to anybody. (:
Is there a way to check the registry to see if a name is taken before you submit?
Thanks to all for the great advice, once again BDW has come to m
Thank you, and thanks for the info
Re: Question about AKC Registration names
I just put Mimi, and it came back as Mimi 2!! I would add something else!! LOL
No longer than 28 letters...
Usually the kennel name goes first. Like, Lynsie's Marleykin, or something like that.

He is so cute, btw.
IF YOU GO OVER
JUST MAKE MORE BOXES.
Langager's Little Bit of Breve' is over by 3 spaces, when i got her papers she was Bre, i called and they fixed it.
:D
Vicky, Bosco, Bella, Breve' & Holly
Bulldog Club of Greater Seattle
thats would work .....marley our little marleykins
n/m
Thank you
I was thinking something with "Marleykins" that's his nickname around the house.
they will reject just marley
its too popular there are probably thousands of marlely out there akc is one of a kind think of something with marley in it "somthing somthing little marley"
Does anyone know the length requirment of the name?
I guess that would explain why no one just registers the dog with the name he is called by at home. My fiancé asked why we just can't register him under Marley and I just told him "because no one does that" but now I know why. Thanks!
What ever you want...
They wouldn't approve of the name only in a very limited number of cases. They don't like it if you name your dog after a living celebraity (Dogville's Oprah Winfry) or if you'd name him something that's obscene (Dogville's %# ^)_((#%$@ *%^* #)(*!!!). I think they have a length requirment, too. Other than that, it's whatever you want.
Some breeders insist that you put thhe kennel name in the registered name, but if your breeder didn't say anything, don't don't have to do that.)
How about:
Little Lord Snarfel Farfel
or
Fettucini al' Afredo (call him "Fred")
or
Sweetheart Baby Meatloaf
We named Maybull
Reingold's Sweet Patootie
