Question

does everyone's bullie climb down the stairs or is my ice just different. He will go up the stairs but refuses to walk down! He's getting real heavy to carry so any suggestions would be appreciated...lol thanks

DonnaMarie & Ice

Slick hates going down the stairs also...

Unless he hears someone downstairs. It will take time so time. He is getting better (4 months later).

Emma

is my daughters name... thats a great name....

Sorry....

I dont have stairs at my house... but I would love to see that..

front end heavy

It has been my experience that it takes more work for them to go down the stairs...the reason is because bulldogs are so front-end heavy. They have to hold themselves back some, it takes more control and coordination to not fall. My male weighs about 65 lbs. and he can get going so fast down the stairs, I think he is afraid he is going to start rolling. They seem to have much more control going up than down. Just my opinion.

Emma took forever to go down, Mia bout a month, and the TERROR (

day. I guess it depends on the pup.

I agree with everyone. You will hate it when Ice figures

it out it's a great place to zoom.

stairs

It takes time but he will learn.

we had that problem

I let him lean against me while on leash and that gave him some support, and of coarse, lots of tasty treats and praise didn't hurt either. Good luck, it can be a little daunting. Also, if you kinda stand infront of Ice, he may not have that intimidating view and can cope better

That's pretty common actually....

The view looking down can be a bit un-nerving...

a couple of things you might try..
try starting ice about three steps up...you sit on the bottom..and give or put a treat on each step...
then when Ice is comforatble with that try 5 steps...treat on each step..or a tiny bit of of a treat giving with each step or two steps..after you and keep adding a few more steps at a time..over several days...
always stay below Ice...it adds a safety feeling..and also Ice will want to join you...
give lots of hugs and praise too...good luck...smile..ce

Maggie started doing stairs...

..at 7 months.. Wouldn't go up or downstairs at all.. ..then all of a sudden one day.. ..up and down.. Funny.. ..after that she was also totally potty-trained!! ..never had another accident!!
