A guy was here yesterday to change out all of the filters in our AC system, and of course he saw my bulldogs. He got his wife a 7 week old bully puppy out of Houston for $800, for a Christmas present. He said they are doing puppy shots in a few days, and I thought to myself, that is a big mistake. How old should a puppy be before the shots? So many times it seems to set off demodex. Personally, I would wait , but since it has been so long since I have had a baby bully, I don't know what is the recommended time frame.
I am afraid these poor people are in for a rough time with this baby, as they know NOTHING about the breed. Sure hope I am wrong!
I appreciate your input. Thanks!
start at 7 weeks, then every 3 weeks for a total of 3
shots.

We start puppy series at 6 weeks if
they are healthy. Then 9, 12 and 15 weeks for the final shot. Illinois says 4 months for Rabies but our Vet allows us to put it off till they are 5 months and again...never if they are under the weather. Worming every 2 weeks until 3 months and then one a month till they are 6 months. Again, worming frequency depends on health and how many dogs you have. The more dogs you have the more often we worm. We never start any classes until the puppy is well into it's shots.
Rabies vaccine is much later..forget the time..but way later the
either 12 or 16 weeks old when they get their rabbies shots here in Canada.
have a feeling it was 16 weeks
Re: Puppy Shot question
The way I have puppy vaccinations done -
1st in puppy series and initial Vet check between 7-9 weeks of age
2nd in series 3-4 weeks later
3rd in series 3-4 weeks later
Rabies around 5-6 months of age
If the pups are not feeling well, have the sniffles, have diarrhea or anything out of the ordinary, I will delay the next vaccination until they are feeling OK.
A pup will NEVER leave my home until it has had AT LEAST its 1st puppy shot and a Vet check! I think it is irresponsible to do otherwise and leaves the dog at potential risk.
shots
I really don't know enough to say, but it does seem like that to me. It would seem if the dog is OK up to it's last puppy shots, and after it gets the same boosters as before, with rabies, if the dog gets demo, you would suspect the rabies vaccine.

Re: Shots
Geez, it has been a long time since I have been worried about this. It's the rabies shot that can be the problem, right?
All of mine are 8 and 9 years old, so given the fact that I don't remember what I did yesterday, small wonder I got this wrong.
Same question, just change the wording to being about the rabies shot.
Bella had her eight week shots when she came here..
as did Gus..he has his eight week shots then too..
so eight weeks is my guess..
I did not know that much about the bulldog breed when I got Bella..but I learned fast. I soon added a second bulldog Gus. I researched the breed alot before Bella came, and went and seen some bulldog but I think to own one is to UNDERSTAND them..
Shots
The pup should have had it's 6 week shots already. Then 9 week shots come next. I don't count that well [read remember] so I have to look to see the dates, them too maybe, I have to refer to the records. If the puppy is shipped across state lines they need rabies. So I wonder what shots they meant.
Audrey got her rabies shot at 15 weeks
