With all the posts and pictures of Cody, I thought it would be a good time to make this post.

As you know, the webbie is working on a informational web site regarding puppy mills and pet shops, so all of us can contribute by placing an add in our local papers saying "check this web site". If it helps to educate buyers and stop them from buying from a pet shop, it will be worth it.

However, on Puppy Mills, we know they are regulated by the USDA. However, those laws and regulations are so lax and outdated. They need tightening up with stricter requirements that would make it too costly for most millers, and heavier fines and penalties.

Even though I don't get as much time on the board as before, my mind is still always going. I came up with an idea that I spoke with the webbie about, and a couple of our legal field people from the board.

If one person could start MADD, that has resulted in a real power base and laws, if one person could be responsible for starting what has resulted in Amber Alert, which just got signed into law, then the power of the internet and dog lovers can make changes too.

My states US Senator is actually a veterinarian. He co-sponsored the bill this year which made tougher penalties for dog fighting. We need to work on some proposals for what we want changed that is within the laws now, and see if we can get a bill passed. At that point, we need EVERYONE having every friend they have,to email or call their representatives to have them vote for this.

Once this happens, then there will finally be changes with the Puppy Mill industry, and thusly, the Pet shops.
