PRO HEART - worth reading - rec'd. on e-mail 2day

I'd heard about problems with ProHeart before. One statement that made
sense to me is that if there's a reaction, it takes SIX MONTHS for the
stuff to get out of the dog's system, often too long to control any
problems they're having.

Nigel has been on Interceptor since he arrived at my home..

Any other dog I have had has also been on interceptor..I am wary of other products that have not been proven.

Yep - we give Grover Interceptor.

Works great for us! He's been on it since day one.

Our experience with Proheart

I cannot believe that. How sad! Sheldon had the Proheart injection last year on the advice of our "former" vet, thank goodness, with no complications. When we changed vets last year, our current vet told us that it was still too new to be certain of its safety and they were not going to "experiment" on thier patients. Additionaly, I just found out that Proheart does not protect against any other parasites except heartworm and Sheldon has been unprotected from those for the past 6 months. Needless to say, I am quite upset with our "former" vet for not explaining the risks of Proheart. Now we are on a montly pill called "Interceptor." Anyone ever heard of this?

Not Quite Correct

Joanna,

You've now twice incorrectly suggested that Proheart Six is not labled as effective for any parasites.. this is not correct. You may want to read the insert.

I don't happen to use this product, but everyonce in a while it comes in for a WWW bashing - often with less than factual assertions.

K9 Advantix is great!

Just saw that comercial...so funny! We have lots of mosquitos down here in South Florida. Sheldon has been on K9 Advantix for several months. It works great!

Not Pro Heart

The ONLY thing Pro Heart protects against is heartwork. You might be thinking of K9 Advantix, which protects against fleas, ticks & mosquitos. We have to worry about mosquitos in FL too. Sheldon has been on K9 Advantix for several months and is doing great. Good Luck.

Joanna & Sheldon

Is it K-9 Advantix or something like that Cindy?

We keep seeing the ads with a guy waving a giant mosquito at a yellow lab and the dog's unphased. My husband wondered if we should look into too, just for the mosquito protection.

If that's what you're talking about, I wonder if it works too! (Or if it's any good...)

Julia

Interested in a new product...

It is a heartworm preventative, fleas, and mosquitoes. We have to deal with the West Nile virus in Ontario and I want my dogs protected. The weird thing is there is no protection for humans except for bug spray and covering your skin. Is anyone else out there using it for their dogs? maybe its Pro Heart I am talking about? If it is I am not touching it with a ten foot pole! Thanks
