I was riding with Jez on the golf cart and as usual, a couple walking stopped me to pet her and let her know how pretty she was. They told me their brother/brother-in-law has just recently purchased a bulldog puppy from a breeder (not a pet store) and paid $3,000.00!!!!!! I'm sorry but I thought that was ridiculous. Jez cost $1,500.00 I know bulldogs sell for more money up north but is $3,000 a bit out of range for Texas? Ben or Leah, are you there? Is this a little overboard?
Ha try living out here!
I heard of one guy that was selling them a couple years back for $5000.00 each and he sold the whole litter in under a week. Other than that you can't find one under $2500.00 over here and the females are usally more expensive and the bloodlines are crap.
We lucked out with Milo - the breeder gave us a "deal" at $1800.00 - Gertie - welllll thats a whole other story lol!
He's afraid to.....
Just got off the phone with him. He's got over 90 emails and he's afraid to answer all the angry people about the pop ups.....lol....But let me tell you, he is one pissed off webbie with this Network54....
Check your e-mail
I finally got my stupid e-mail service working after a week of being down. Or it better be working. If you didn't get an e-mail from me, let me know.

Some are a little out of hand
I can see paying a price like that, if it is an older puppy, where you KNOW what you have and it is ready to go in the ring. But to be asking that price for an 8 week old or so, b.s.!!
A friend is looking for a nice female puppy, and contacted someone in FL. He wanted $3,000, and it would be on a co-ownership until the dog was shown and won it's first major. He said this was his way of making sure it wasn't just being bought for breeding in the back yard. This individual evidently has a couple champions, that he has had handled, but hasn't really been in it very large. I told my friend, b.s. And what is he guaranteeing? I said to look elsewhere.
Not enough time in the day.
Used to be able to get on the board and post at work, but that went out the window the last few weeks due to the changes in law by our wonderful (and I say with a lot of pun intended) lawmakers. With daylight savings time, by the time I get home, get the bike ride in, take Jez for her golf cart ride and let Boscoe out to run like madman through the golf course, I come in and it is 9 p.m. Bedtime for me. Dogs get up at 5:30 a.m. for breakfast! My neighbor has offered to take Jez for her evening ride. He is single, 26 and has come to the conclusion that she is a real chick magnet. Everyone stops to pet her. He can't afford a bulldog so he wants to borrow Jez.

ps did that 3000.00 dollar bullie come with a gem studded collar...wowza....
Denise ... great to see you again, girl!
As for your question ... I certainly hope the next puppy that comes to me won't be priced that high!
I don't think breeders realize the message they're sending to "backyard breeders" when the prices sky-rocket like that.
Milk
Hee hee.
Actually it's not as bad as you think, if you shop in the tourist grocery stores then yes you will get ripped off. A gallon of milk will usually cost you about $4.50 - in a tourist shop it will cost you about $7.00 (but watch carefully its usually two for one) and the tourists dont want to buy two so they're stuck with the high prices.
Cereal is expensive - 5.00 a box fruit is expensive because of the shopping - but we have Kmart and Costco and it's equivialnt to mainland prices.
I went back home to Canada in november, and even with the exchange rate Canadian prices were way higher that Hawaii prices. Real Estate will kill you out here though!
Re: Price of Paradise
Paradise is an exception for sure...i figured they sold for that in hawaii///then agian what is the cost of a gallon of milk//// i heard 5.00 compared to 2.99 here, is that true or not!
Price of Paradise
Lisa and I paid big bucks for our baby girls. Our price was a bit higher because of the shipping cost, but normally they do go for $2,500 whether it is pet or show quality...doesnt matter.
Hi Denise!
I too, think that 3000.00 is a tad steep for a pup. The only way one might be able to justify that kind of price is if the pup has been shown and is doing well in the ring. From what I see, the price ranges from around 1200-2000 for pups here in Texas.

Was this pup bought as a show prospect or strictly a pet? I hope the new owner did their homework before dishing out that much cash for a pup--show prospect or not.
Hope to see at the Reliant shows--

Price
Denise,
I think $3000 for a pup is very high as who can say with certainty exactly how the pup will turn out. If the price was for a finished or pointed dog then it could be a fair price based on showing/travelling/advertising expenses that one may have in the dog.
I am probably not a good one on the subject of selling pets. I have given away more bulldogs than I have ever sold. NOTE TO EVERYONE I do not have any available for placements so please do not bombard me with requests. Just stating facts.
Hope to see you next month at the Reliant shows! I will have Pearl with me, she is a real sweetheart and cuddle bug.
