Re: On color
I knew a breeder, many years ago, that told me you cant breed for color. After 19 years of Bulldogs, I believe her!
Color... another example
Another example... bred a red & white bitch (Ch. Noughty Cover Girl) to a white stud (Ch. Brumar's Home Brew). In five generations, the bitch's lines contain no white dogs. The stud's pedigree contains only one other white dog, his sire. In other words, there is A LOT of color between the two pedigrees.

Out of seven puppies, one was solid white, two were predominantly white (with only one or two colored markings on the head), and the other four were red & white. I was expecting & hoping for less white. It's my least preferred color, but I admire MANY white dogs (including the stud). In addition, I actually chose to keep the solid white pup.
My friend owns one of the littermates, and she has a webpage with pictures of the litter for anyone who is interested. They sure were a bunch of cuties!

Re: Re: the how lol
Oh Dolly god its a hard call to make. Oxford & Jackson are sold and Gary & his Mum want Daisee, Heidi wants Sanford or Dudlee, I have three other "strong maybes" and as for me, if I had to do things all over again, I would have kept Oxford no question, and probably Winston b/c he is such a charactor and Penelope cause she is just the sweetest thing since sugar. I know one of the hardest things is going to be saying goodbye to them, and Im very picky where and to whom there going, but its a damm hard call to make. The worst worst thing of all of it, is the mess!!! ie:poop & pee!!! that I could definitly live w/out. But its been a fun experience, we've all learned so much, especially from Patti, and everyone here at the forum. So in retrospect, we come away from this filled w/ a ton of great memories alot of pictures of the kids, and yes Ill cry like a baby when they leave.

re:pregnancy
One of my friends who is a breeder also has a very small bulldog>I think she weighs about 24lbs.She will be bred the next time she comes into season and our vet has told her that she will be fine even though she is small. When my dogs are pregnant I don't give them any medication but you said your little girl was really itchy.WHen Banshee was pregnant I use to rinse her off every day with cold water and that seemed to help.
Re: the how lol
Robin,
GOD, what BEAUTIFUL BABIES! How could you ever think of parting with them? (forget the work, forget the $ to feed and care for them!) I would find it so hard to let them go! Which one (or oneS) are you keeping? I'll take one with a WHITE face! LOL
They are so beautiful AND healthy looking!
Good luck with them!

What a picture!

My oldest daughter Heidi was laying on the floor, I was sitting on the coffe table and my husband was at the side of the window in case they decided to leep down 0_0 they were sleeping and we put them up there and I snapped like a wild woman. Here's Dudlee looking down at Heidi.

pregnancy
she seems to be more itchy since she came into heat , when she was younger we discovered she had a lot of allergys mostly outside so we stoped that by just keeping her inside she is paper trained and when we go anywere we carry her out to the truck and when the vet keeps her he does not let her out by keeping her inside we stoped a lot of the problems with her skin I give her a bath every other day in a oatmeal bath. but i'll try the cool water and see if that helps thank you
Re: Re: Re: re:pregnancy
My post above was supposed to be directed to Robin. Sorry!
Re: Re: re:pregnancy
Yup, other breeds as well!
What a great bunch! Beautiful picture, how in the world did you get them to stay still long enough to take the pics? I can't even get pics of ONE! (now two!)
;>)
Re: Color... another example
Melanie,
What a bunch of CUTIE PIE's!!! My FAVORITES are the white's (maybe with a little sprinkle of liver color on the ears or a little spot on the base of the tail) just too cute, in my book!
Re: On color
HAD A LITTER ABOUT 8 YEARS BACK. THE MOM, DAD BOTH RED, IN THE PEDIGREE WAS 90% RED OR RED/WHITE SO THAT TOLD THE STORY AND SURE ENOUGH 5 RED PUPPIES, 1 WITH SOME WHITE. I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED A SOLID RED BRINDLE NICE MARKS. NEVER SEEN ONE THAT GOOD.
On color
As Robin described, you can get a whole mix of colors. You have to really know the lines, and have them both very strong with the same color before you can really count on expecting certain colors. If your bitch has white behind her, and the male has a lot of white behind him, then you should get a couple whites. May-be not all white, but white with markings.
Good luck, let us know how the ultrasound goes.
Those puppies look like they are on Cloud 9!
The fluffy fur is great for the picture in the bay window. They all look so happy together, just beautiful!
Re: puppies
Yes those are our grandpuppies lol, six weeks as of yesterday, we have a total of 8 & 5 of which are boys and 3 girls, our momma is red & white w/ black mask, her beau is red & white piebald. The weird thing, all our males are fawn or red & white and some w/ a black mask, but our girls are all piebald like the stud, and fawn to boot. The interesting thing is this, Zoey's pedigree has a majority of fawn & fawn brindles, on her mothers side, we thought and prayed we might get the luck of wild card w/ a fawn brindle but it wasnt to be, but I love them just the way they are, and I wouldnt change a thing. There a ton of work, but alot of fun. Let us know after you go to the vets.

puppies
Is that your litter of puppies they sure are pretty great looking litter my baby is red brindle and white the stud is white I'm hoping I get a white female
Re: re:pregnancy
Zoey had a false pregancy twice, of the two false ones one time she was AI'd and the other time she wasnt even breed and she had symptoms of being pregant, swollen pink nipples, swollen vulva, strange behavior etc. The time she was breed though we took her for a ultrasound, and nothing but symptoms, even in the waiting room the vet walked by looked at her said I think she's going to be a momma, and yet she wasnt. This time we were very cautious not to get our hopes up, and as it turned she was. Fortunatly! =) I think its sort of strange that bulldogs can have false pregancys. I wonder about other breeds? Good Luck with your girl, I hope it all works out well for you, and you have a nice litter of pups.

pregnancy
I also worry about her size my vet says not to. I am really lucky my vet raises and shows bulldogs.but my babie isonly 30pds and only 11 inches tall. people ask me all the time if she is a mini bulldog I tell them there is no such thing. the lady who had the male thought she was really very cute because she is so small she is my lap dog I told her today that this will never happen again. I have asked my vet over and over if she will be ok he says she will be i hope so i'm lucky she goes to work with me everyday so i can keep an eye on her
re:pregnancy
Don't get your hopes up about her being pregnant.Wait until you have the ultrasound.I just bred my female and she had a false preganancy...she had all the syptoms of being pregnant...but she wasn't.I also had a pregnant female a couple of years ago but she absorbed her puppies. My vet said that stress can cause them to do that.Good luck with the ultrasound and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
She's Pregnant!!
Hi Anne,
Bitches can get "morning sickness" too just as humans.
It's very typical for her boobs to be changing too. Swolen & pink sound about right at this stage of the game.
Don't worry about the vulva.
See if the vet can suggest anything for the itching. Usually you would give Benedryl but not sure if you can give it to a pregnant bitch.
Good luck with your litter.
