Hi everyone!! I just got a 1 year old bulldog yesterday, and this is my first experience with the breed. I read up on them before I got him and I understand that they snore and snort, but since I got him yesterday he has been snoring (kinda of a loud gasping snort). He is defianetly NOT overheated and he really hasn't been doing anything streneous. The breeder told me this is pretty normal for Bulldogs when they get stressed, but to be honest it's starting to make me nervous. If anyone could tell me if this is normal I would really appreciate it. Thanks for any info.
Is he restless, agitated, or showing distress??
If so, I'd have checked out ASAP. If not showing signs of distress, just keep eye on. When he's up, does he walk, play, eat, drink normal?
help cont. ...
He sounds like he is snoring (but its kinda more raspy then a snore), all the time. I have had him for 24 hours and he has been doing it most of the time I've had him (even if he's just laying down). It's so loud that I'm in the basement and he is on the second floor of the house and I can hear him. I got him from a breeder and I have called her twice, but she has not been very helpful. I'm wondering if I should take him to the vet tom. or if it can wait until the app. I had scheduled for Monday. Again thanks for any info you can give me.
Snoring
I may have misunderstood your question. Did you mean that he snores when he is asleep, or do you mean that he snores (or sounds like he is) when he is awake and moving around?

Perfectly normal
Bulldogs are notorious snorers. I find it very soothing. When my first bulldog unexpectedly died last August, I found the silence in the house at night unbearable.
However, if the snoring sounds very labored, more like respiratory distress, then you take him to see a vet asap. With my bulldogs, the snoring has been loud but very rhythmic.
info
Welcome to the Forum! I am sure that someone will have some other opinions and answers for you. But my first thought is that the pup is nervous because of the change that has been made in his life. And he is excited with all of the new smells to explore, and some he has never smelled before.
If it were me, I would watch him over the next week or so, and if the raspy breathing does not calm down, I would take him to a very good Bulldog Vet and have him checked out.
Did you sign a contract when you got him? What kind of health clause is in the contract? Did you buy him from a breeder? If so, if the breeder is a responsible breeder he/she will answer your questions and guide you as to what to do for your puppy's well being.
Come back and check often. I am sure there are others who will be willing to help you also.

Millie can vibrate the floors of the house
when I am downstairs and she is upstairs, you can hear her snore just as if she was next to you!! It actually makes me feel quite content now.
