I've never thought Bubba was over weight. He looks great Amber. I've seen a lot bigger bullies than him. You do a great job with him.

and what you think is a small bulldog might not be a small bulldog..lol.
what I did with Cathy on here one time is we took the measurements of Audrey
and the measurements of Bella and Gus.
actually Cathy bulldog Audrey looked very small and she thought she was short..when in the end she was close to the same in size to Bella and Gus.
when I took the measurements here
we did the neck size
the gurth size
and the length of the bulldog
also the height of the bulldog

I have seen other bulldogs out there too. one is prized male champion when Bella father is ..and he is about 65 pounds and HUGE but a very solid bulldog. but he is huge in relation to Gus and Bella.. Even Bella dad was close to 60 pounds. do you know Bubba's parents size..how big were they??

so I guess that depends on the person and the bulldog. Bubba does not overweight at all to me.especially like I said in the last pic.

I guess the vet looks for the hour glass figure and bullies fill out..they loose some of that look.
my vet thinks Gus could loose a few pounds and he is 52 pounds. but then Bella..they want her to keep her same weight and not loose anymore..she is 42 pounds but if Gus was close to her weight and i think that is what the vet is thinking ..cause he sees Bella..but she is a small frame bully..

That first one is so big I dont know how to make it smaller! I just love Bubba sooooooo much! I love all bulldogs, you should see my office, it is covered with bulldog pictures....Have a great weekend, dont forget to give those bullies lots of extra lovin for me!

Thank you very much for the kind comments, you are very sweet! my local vet told me that Bub is grossly over weight....I dont agree, he may be a little over weight because he did gain alot of weight after his surgery 10 lbs...He weighs 60 lbs now, and he seems to have a bit of a smaller frame than other bulldogs I have seen. I have seen so many bulldogs that look gigantic ompared to Bubba. His ribs used to poke out, now they its a bit mushy in that area but you can still see them!
Of course we all think out bullies are the cutest and most perfect hings alive! I think Bub could lose a few pounds but I do not think he's obese, the nerve of that vet! lol

Gus packed on the weight until he was about 9 months and then he kinda did not much more on since then.
the standard is 50 or so pounds for a male but some males are bigger then the standard for sure and solid.

the rib cage really like I said changed in my bulldogs
between 2 and half and 3 years.

he does look overweight at all in the last pic
can you feel his ribs??
you can feel Gus ribs but not see them
and Gus really is still filling out..

I think Bubba is beautiful but you can sure see the change in him big time..
